Needville? Ranked #3?? When the Massey ratings show their schedule is ranked near the bottom for toughness (128 out of 174), their offense is rated 70th, and their defense is rated 67th, And their overall rating is 54th? Not to mention, they are rated higher than WOS, Gilmer and even Cuero?? They also lost last week, I think.

Yes, I'd say that some of these ratings are way off and need a few more weeks.

I was told by someone who watched Celina play the new Frisco school that Celina was not impressive. He said they were trying onside kicks in an effort to put more points on the board. He also said it worked. Does anyone know if that was what happened, or is this guy full of it?

Celina never looks impressive to the layman. They just play Sears and Roebuck football for 48 minutes. They don't do anything special, they just don't make mistakes. Just about the time they have put you to sleep, you look up and they are ahead by five touchdowns, and the game is over.

I've never had the pleasure to watch them play in person, although I do have that video about their season a couple of years back. This guy just felt they were doing all they could to run up the score. Maybe just sour grapes...

Plain and simple Celina did not try to run up the score.

Did the guy mention Celina trying to run out the clock in the 4th?

Celina didn't try to run up the score. They could have won 100-0. They continue to work on things to perfect them including onside kicks. We weren't impressive that night as we played a little down. Still we won, despite the calls like a player's body, laying perpendicular to the goaline, in the endzone, while downing the ball on the 1 foot line, not being called a touchback. That was one call. Another was a pass, that our receiver and the d-back came down with and maintained simultaneous possession, being ruled an interception. These refs were horrid. Still we win 41-7. Yes sour grapes is suspect.

well -- if Celina did onsides kick when having the game well in hand I can see how that would be perceived to be running up the score.

by the way in my 30+ years of watching football I never heard of a team onsides kicking when blowing someone out just to practice onsides kicks. that does seem odd ...

I believe the last 2 kickoffs were deep. I could be mistaken. I know we did an onside kick once and a pooch kick twice. Celina does have a tendency to try and get a real comfortable lead early. Seems to kinda knock the air out of the other team. :p
