WC wins a shoot-out. Flannel is the difference.

Columbia will win. The Scott, Scott, Peredo, Flannel offensive attack, combined with a great DLine should equal a 14 point win

Did the coach really think he could convert a 2pc against THE Columbia defense. Should have taken the sure point. It was a loss when they ran the offense out there

obviously our coaches saw something we could have taken advantage of and that's why we went for 2...you should know just like anyone else that ya'll were in a bad situation and almost lost the game...but hey, that was last year...new year, new game

Both teams have played pretty sloppy so far this season, I think it will be a close game and I am going with Wharton.

And yes I believe Flannel did play against Sweeny.

Yes, Flannel did play against Sweeny. Had over 100 yds. in 1st game back. Sweeny won 17-14 in a game where both teams had too many turnovers.

when is this game? and where? I've gotta go see what all the hoopla is about w/ these two teams. I always hear how "great" "good" "awesome" they are. judging by what theyve done so far.. they are nothing special. Columbia has 3 losses so far, granted Bellville is one of their losses, but I constantly see people saying how unimpressive Needville is and how they lost to Sweeny.....so did Columbia...so is Sweeny the dark horse of the district this year? What gives? Wharton has a BIT more to brag about judging just by their record. Their losses came to Barbers Hill and El Campo. Their only semi-quality win though came over Sealy. Both of these teams are average at best in my opinion judging by their performances up until now. Maybe this district just isnt what it used to be? BUT judging by what I've read, seen, etc. Wharton should take this one no problem.

well i have to say if Wharton plays how they have been WC will take it but Wharton has the ability to win with ease. and last year Wharton coaches believed they should go for the win and get the game over with, no need to tie it up in WC and get someone else hurt

well if they thought it wouldve been worth the risk of hurting another player then yes they wouldve kicked the extra point but with Ansley out and the players down they went for the win, WC is a tough place to go into overtime in. we lost that game but this is a different year and the tigers will play hard no matter what and stay undefeated in district

good research.

didnt that 2000 and 2001 come down to 2 pt conversions ????

2005 Wharton took the 14 point off the board and went for 2. fumbled snap.

Tiger3
10-10-2006, 09:33 AM
3 out of the last 4 have been 1 pt. ball games in favor of Columbia, Wharton needs to snap that trend. I do think this will be a close hard fought ball game though. I think the key for Wharton is the run defense has to step up and stop Flannel and the Columbia running game.

No discredit to the soph., but a lot of people could come in and throw a 25 yard deep pass to one of the best receivers in south texas and look good for it. I just think that had Wharton converted and went up 15-14, we'd be talking about what a good choice it was to go for 2.

JV- WC 20 Wharton 6 .....stopped short due to lightneing
9th - Wharton 20 WC 0.....i think.

BW- both games were played in a mud bowl....sorry bout the field....it needs some help.

MUD BOWL...
that wasn't nothing compared to 2 years ago when we played Stafford's 9th and JV game here. in a driving rainstorm. I lost a shoe on the sidelines to a sinkhole. Our AD got more wet in the pressbox running the clock than us on the sidelines due to that hunk of junk wooden box leaking so bad.

will the tiger's den be in good shape for tonight?

when we played in WC 2 years ago it was bad them too. i think that someon had put a b nch of sand on the field to help it out.....but it was like oatmeal.

is that the JH field too?

Tiger stadium will be in good shape. it drains really well. 2 weeks ago when sealy was here....we had a pretty good soaking up until about 7:00 and there wasnt any footing problems.

should be a good field....for a good game.

my memory from the 9th grade game. oneo fo our kids tries coming to the sideline with a hurt arm. kid gets yelled at to get back in there....and was told i guess we are not very tough. kid played 2 more downs....then came out.

showed a different coach who quickly called for the trainer....kid had a broken arm.
