Are the Pirates going to have a lot of players out due to injuries?

This game will be a gauge for both teams as far as I'm concerned. OG "hasn't played anyone good" but has handled everyone they HAVE played very easily. Sinton has some losses but has played some very good teams. How will these teams match up? Is OG as good as the hype? Is Sinton being a bit overlooked and considered to be having a down year because of a few losses? We'll have to wait and see!! I'll be paying close attention to this one!

The Pirates are pretty banged up, but the offense has progressed a lot during predistrict. I think the Pirates will get the win on their district opener.

Sinton banged up?
Going into the Grove to take on an undefeated team?

OG takes this one. Close, but they'll come out on top.

At first I was thinking the same thing, but I have this overwhelming feeling now that the Pirates are going to crush them. Maybe its because the caliber of teams that they have played. Then again what do I know... :D

From what I'm hearing, Sinton has about 9 out of the 22 starting positions with back-ups filling the bill. Two more on offense are seeing limited duty due to minor injuries. One defensive starter is starting both ways now for the first time in high school because of the injuries. The offense is just starting to gel, so it's hard to say on this one. If we can avoid the turnovers that have been killing us the last three weeks, we should do ok. The Pirates know the real season starts Friday night.

If Sinton can get a few of those injured starters back this week then they should be favored. I'll take Sinton by 14...

From what I seen in the "first"game of year and no injury's to use as a reason. Sinton will have a very very short season.

I'm very interested in how this game comes out. I believe this will be a game to watch and if Ingleside and AP wasn't playing (Oh, and my son) then I would like to see this one. It will be a test. I'm partial, toss of a coin on this one too. Enjoy and hopefully injury free.

Occasional showers possible. Highs in the upper 60s and lows in the upper 50s.

We actually do have one Orange Grove poster but for some reason hasn't posted on this. I saw them on a couple of weeks ago.:(
.
One thing to note in this game:
OG killed a good Hebbronville team 47-0 and beat a good Taft team 56-27. That increases the risk.;)

 my cousin is one of the coaches in Taft and he said OG has some fast rbs that may give Sinton trouble coming out of the backfield, but he also thinks taft could beat sinton this year. rofl. Sinton offense shoud continue to improve and one trend going for this team that hopefully is taken care of is that they are being outplayed in the second half. Pirates have had the lead in most of the games only against Cuero were they down by as much as 12 at the half.

Nothing worse to watch than sloppy football because of bad weather, but Ingleside had a year where some of there better games were during some bad weather... go figure.

Corpus Christi Caller-Times Article (http://www.caller.com/ccct/high_school_football/article/0,1641,CCCT_11856_5060698,00.html)

ORANGE GROVE

The Bulldogs had their lowest scoring output of the season last week in a 14-6 victory over Goliad. Fortunately, the defense stepped up and turned in its best performance this year by holding the Tigers to only 56 total yards.

Goliad isn't the only opponent that's had a hard time against Orange Grove.

The Bulldogs opened the season by holding Banquete to only 95 total yards in a 35-0 victory.

Two weeks later, Hebbronville managed only 83 total yards in a 44-0 loss.

Orange Grove hosts defending 30-3A champion Sinton in Friday's district opener, the first of three tough district games. The Bulldogs travel to Aransas Pass next week before hosting Ingleside on Oct. 27.

"Sinton has great tradition and our kids are excited about the opportunity to play them," said coach Brent Kornegay, whose team competed in 31-3A last season. "It's all about confidence, and we have a little right now."

RB Oscar Rodriguez did not play last week against Goliad for undisclosed reasons, but Kornegay said the senior is expected to be back in uniform against Sinton. He has 50 carries for 338 yards and nine TDs.

What's a little scary is that we have owned them the past 4-6 years.

2002: 46-7 Sinton
2003: 14-3 Sinton (we had a losing recording coming into that game and they had a winning record)
2004: 29-0 Sinton
2005: 30-6 Sinton

I know we beat them in 2001, but I don't remember the score and couldn't find it on the Caller website.

They are always ready to play us. Just hope our boys are ready & focused on keeping that district title!!
