Sweeny & Wharton are in the driver seat with a 2-0 district record.

Credit HC Tommy Zajicek (& staff), now in his 2nd year back after returning from administration, for getting the Dogs back on track. Made the playoffs last year for 1st time since 2001, lost a tough one to Cuero, & now he has his program / offseason back in place. 104th career victory for Coach Z Friday night.

Solid, methodical win over Needville. Lots of district left though for everybody. Good job Bulldogs!!

With the exception of the Hutto game, I think Sweeny was our toughest game. Well coached team! (speaking about last year)

Thanks, & last year's game was a tough ballgame in Victoria. Couple of late scores inflated the margin & Cuero was the better team. Lots of respect for Cuero's program year in & year out. Always liked the BBQ they fed us over there too! I played against Robert Strait - what a hoss, wish injuries / other had not derailed a fine career. Barry Switzer was at our scrimmage one year trying to recruit him!

can't beat that '99 bi-district game though... woooo... that was some sort of game... we were down 14-zip at the half... very tense locker-room at half... snuck her out in OT but that was a slobber-knocker for sure...

11th game of the season vs 1st game of the season.

1st game of season - Cuero vs Wharton - nail biter for sure, down to the wire - but in the 1st game of the season, you have new players in new positions, 1st game gitters etc.

11th game of the season - positions are more developed and players have some experience under their belt - so - while I appreciate your suggestion, I'll stick with my original opionion

Congrats also to the Bulldogs -- players, coaches, and community. The funny thing about this all -- my mom went to school in Needville 70 years ago (yes, she is 83) and we still own a farm and pastureland there, but she was so happy when she read that Sweeny beat the Jays. I wasn't awake yet when she read the paper, so she called me at 6:30 in the morning all excited to tell me. Good luck and keep up the good work Bulldogs!
