Ballinger coach makes very tough decision concerning disciplinary actions. However, he is criticized. Personally, I am very proud, being from Ballinger and all, that he is the type of person who could put character, morals, and what is right above just playing a game. Coach Owens, in my book, you did what was right.

Had some players who did something against rules and had to bench them for a game. Therefore, the next game was lost. But I applaud the coach for taking the stance that he did. Yes, kids will be kids, but in the overall picture, the coach did what was right.

And a lesson well-learned, the hard way, is not one quickly forgotten. I respect a coach who will take a loss to teach kids character and values!

Yes, had he had all of his starters, he could have probably won. He almost did, anyway. But, I'm sorry, the players messed up!! But I'm from the decade that if you did not do what was right and honorable, then you paid the price. If not at school, then at HOME!!!

Ballinger should be proud to have him as their coach. To put integrity above winning is awesome.

The town should be proud and so should the school board AND they should quitely let him know he did the right thing.

Yes, maybe quietly, but what is RIGHT is RIGHT. Maybe, LOUDLY, I don't think that coaches are ever given the "cudos" that they deserve. They are there every day, trying to do what is right, and trying to instill in their athletes that whether you win the game or not, you need to represent yourself, your town, and your parents in a dignified manner.
