They normally don't do well at all. New coach this year. They have soundly beat Ingleside and now look to do the same to Sinton, barring a miracle.:(

The high school is in Port Lavaca, along with Sandcrab stadium, but the students come from Calhoun county. Their football team has never, and I mean never been a threat. I heard about the new coach, and they are said to have a pretty good QB. Sinton has had a couple of bad weeks. Gotta regroup!

When the Sinton/Calhoun-Port Lavaca score was mentioned at our game, several folks (who work in the Port Lavaca area at the plants) said the Sandcrabs had a really good QB this year. We'll have to see if Crabman has any scoop on them (since he's originally from there)

Their QB is very good!!! :( I have so many thoughts, but I'm soooo tired. LOL!! I will say that our offense looks much improved from Week 1.  If we can STOP with the mental mistakes we just might be dangerous!! ;) I am glad that pre-district is FINALLY over!!! Our boys are beat up and dejected at this point. They need to pull themselves up, shake it off and get ready for THE SEASON!! I know they feel as if they have "let down" the community (they maybe right about some people  since there were more Sandcrabs on the visitors side than Pirates) but they need to understand that their real season begins tomorrow. This Pirate fan is still behind you all the way!! I know they can rebound. They have the talent, they have played some pretty stiff competition, now they just have to believe that they can WIN!!

Don't get so down on yourselves boys!!! I hope to see more Sinton fans next week!!

I guess I wasn't too tired.

Good win PLC!!

One of my HS teammates is an assistant coach at PLC so I'm glad that they've turned that program around. Sorry for the loss, Pirates...:(

So were there a lot of guys out with injuries or was PLC just that good? I hear Soza was there scouting. Gonna have to figure out some good defensive packages to stop that QB, though it looked as if the RBs did a lot of damage too.

I don't like to use injuries as an excuse. They certainly don't help. Had alot of guys going both ways. You gotta contain/stop that QB, but if he doesn't get you their RB will. ;) Good Luck!! When do you guys face them? Soza was there so I'm sure he was taking notes. :)

We meet in the final week, possibly for playoff seeding and maybe even a district title depending on how we each play G-P and the others!

Port Lavaca, which makes me nervous. Those boys seem to be pretty tough at home.

I don't even know how to get there! How far a drive was it for you guys? Isn't it around Victoria? Guess I could take 59 to Victoria and then look for an area rich in crab. :D I'll make sure to take my bib and some melted butter!

Get to Victor-I-A and then find HWY 87 South and follow it to PL... you'll come to HWY 35, take a left (35 norf) and you'll find the stadium about a mile up on the right...

that's one thing about Calhoun fans... suck or suck, they're still there...

I don't know what this new coach has brought with him. If Davenport couldn't rouse these kids, I would have thought they couldn't be roused. Just no way to predict how a group of kids will react to things, I guess. Definately looks like they've turned the corner.

Short "article" from the Victoria Advocate :o :bigcry:

McAfee spearheads Calhoun past Sinton
October 07, 2006 - Posted at 12:00 a.m.
PORT LAVACA - Calhoun quarterback Tyler McAfee scored five touchdowns and dominated Sinton's defense, beating the Pirates 51-20.

 McAfee rushed for 277 yards, averaging almost 19 yards per carry. Four of his touchdowns came on the ground with runs of 53, 71, 92 and 3 yards. The quarterback also tossed for a score, hitting Brandt Boone on a 66-yard pass.

McAfee wasn't the only Sandcrab who had a big game. Xavier Archangel rushed for 72 yards on only 7 carries and a 30-yard touchdown. Esmer Trevino ran for 60 yards on 7 carries and a 29-yard touchdown. James Ezzell rushed twice for 60 yards.

Kicker Esteban Martinez made the final score for Calhoun (4-1) with a 25-yard field goal.

Sinton (1-4) quarterback Wes Ring provided the bulk of his team's offense with 128 yards rushing and a 13-yard TD run along with 106 yards passing. Also scoring for the Pirates was Josh Ring on a 1-yard run and Matthew Villareal on a 40-yard run.
