we finally showed some signs of life. Best offensive game we have had in a long time. Im trying to remember the last time we scored 42 or more then 42 it's been a while. We had the lead for a lot of the second half but Crandall just kept fighting we couldnt put them away. They scored on a long pass on third and long with like 40 seconds left. We got the ball back and went for a 51 yard field goal kinda questionable. They blocked it and started running the other way. We tackeled them but needless to say my heart was beating like i just ran a marathon. Then in OT we scored after converting a 4th and 2. Then intercepted Crandall in there OT great game. Keiston Gatson was fantastic for Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD — A sigh of relief came from Fairfield coach David Haynes after a close, 42-35 win in overtime over Crandall.

“We really needed (the win) to give us momentum going into district play,” Haynes said.

Fairfield quarterback Keiston Gatson led his team with 84 yards passing and 132 yards rushing, including a 6-yard touchdown run in overtime that gave the Eagles the win. He had help from running back Gavan Bass, who gained 81 yards on 18 carries.

Crandall had its own star in the form of Antuan Aaron, whose 151 yards rushing, 103 yards receiving, and three touchdowns, including a last-minute touchdown reception from Colton Kvapil, helped Crandall hold on to force overtime.

Crandall quarterback Colton Kvapil completed 7-of-13 passes for 113 yards, but three interceptions were too much to give the Pirates the momentum they needed to keep a hungry Fairfield team from controlling the tempo of the game.

Other mentionables were Crandall running back Zach Ragsdale, who gained 110 yards on 14 carries, Fairfield running back Eric Palmer, who gained 50 yards on four carries, and Fairfield receiver Alfraid Manning, who caught three passes for 33 yards.
