This game is actually Oct 6. For some uninformed fans, St. Thomas took 4a Santa Fe to the wire before losing 38-31. Undefeated Needville won a close game over Santa Fe, so I wouldn't make too much fun of this team. In their series with Bellville, they have never won but they have played competitive games. Give this team credit, they stepped up to the plate and have both Wimberley and Bellville on their schedule. They have the talent to beat some 3A teams.

For Region IV I nominate Raymondville (3-1) vs Rio Hondo (4-0)...we don't get much attention down here but of the Valley 3A games this one is definitely on everyones radar.

Raymondville is a very young team that has found a lot of success using their passing game...Rio Hondo is the team to beat in the 32-3A, but many say they haven't been tested yet. I'm hoping my boys are team to do just that.

I can speak only for my team but our new coach has definitely lit a spark under these kids...

I would have to say that Wimberley and Liberty Hill have two tough schedules. On paper, Wylie's didn't look too shabby but Brownwood is underacheiving, IP is a slow starting team, and Big Spring has as Texas A&M committed QB and fielded a team with a bunch of freshman and sophmores around him. Wylie should have two good tests in Frenship and Wimberley these next two weeks.

Wylies schedule looked like Murderers Row last spring but with the exception of Frenship no one else is looking all that tough. I dont know what happened to B.S. Did thye get jacked up for all the 5A guys they were playing prior to us and then think Wylie would be a cupcake game? I have never ever seen a Wylie team score that many points in a half.

It depends on what other games are going on in each region.

Rio Hondo @ Raymondville gets my vote.
Valley teams don't get the respect they deserve.

also,
Liberty Hill @ Wimberley definately

Region 1

Vernon @ Clyde
Midland Christian @ Breckenridge

both of these games could be real close

Also:

Clint (4-0) vs. Tornillo (3-0) from 1-3A - 1st district game for both

I dont think theres any question about Liberty Hill and Wimberley. Even though were not district rivals anymore its always a great game to watch with tons of fans and a great big game atmosphere. This is the second of three big weeks in a row for Wimberley, so I hope we continue to improve cause it sounds like Liberty Hill has some pretty salty players this year.

Also, since LH was in last week's GoTW it just wouldn't seem fair to have them two weeks in a row.:)
But LH-Wimbo is gonna be good one to see.

I think Breckenridge and Midland Christian....
Wylie and Friendship will be a good game, but Friendship is 4A, and therefore I pick Breckenridge - Midland Christian as the Region 1 Game of the Week.....

I will have to back up the Raymondville Vs. Rio Hondo.....these two teams are prime contenders for the district titles, and it would be a good opportunity to see what you guys will be facing down the road come playoff time.

Thanks to everyone who had suggestions. :) And best of luck to all teams this week. I will get some info posted for all, but wanted to give the "fans" the chance to fill us in first, since some of what I "know" may have changed since the season started.

Oh come on where's your sense of humor. St. Thomas is 0-3 in TAPPS this year and a little kidding around shouldn't upset you. Of course I wasn't making fun of Christians. Really, you kill me sometimes...a real barrel of fun yall are! LOL:rolleyes:

BTW if you object to my kidding around about a "Christian school" maybe you should go easy on them and not run up the score too much, ehh? LOL j/k

And one other thing. You obviously have no experience with The Sister's of Mercy. They can be really hard nosed and tough when they need to be! LOL:D

Actually 0-4, but not playing an all TAPPS schedule. Losses were to Strait Jesuit (playing in a 5A district), 5A Houston Chavez, 4A Santa Fe and Episcopal. With Bellville, Wimberley and St. Pius on their remaining schedule, they are playing some good teams.

No doubt they aren't afraid to play tough teams. They will do okay in their district. In 2001 they went to the final I believe. The Leps played them in 2000 and 2001. They competed well and put some points up but the Leps won both by 3 tds or so. They have a funny stadium with both teams on one side with a rail dividing the two crowds.

Bellville scored 41 in the first half last week, then the 2nd and 3rd teamers played, Bellville has not run the score up on no one.
Look back when the leps were wining and look at some of your scores. Make fun of Bellvilles opponents, I remember the last few years Bellville wanted to play La Grange in Pre-District and the Leps were down and figured they would get beat, thats why the leps would not play Bellville.
Figure it out thats why we have to play some pre-district games with Christian schools.
