Suppose you own a card shop. You buy one line of cards at a rate of 4 cards for $5. You plan to sell the cards at a rate of 3 cards for $5. How many cards must you sell in order to make a profit of $100?

Wouldn’t it be faster to burn the shop down and collect the insurance money?

jason:

crzyjournalist03:
are the cards baseball or football?underwater basket weaving 2003 complete set....then that makes it an easy answer...one card...you only PLAN to sell them at a rate of 3 cards for $5...people would immediately offer hundreds of dollars to get their hands on a set like that.

Nope. Here's the solution:

5/4=$1.25 ea. cost
5/3=$1.67 retail
$1.67 minus $1.25 = .42 profit margin

$100.00 divided by .42=?

I think if you were to buy 60 cards(4 coming in each pack) and then turn around and then sell 20 of them(3 coming in each pack) then you will get a $100 dollar profit.

The final answer is 238.095 cards sold at $1.67 would yield $100.00 profit.
