I'm really looking foward to getting to know alot of people on this board. My favorites are Odis, Butkus, Snydertigersrul, Sweetwater07, Stownhorse, Bubba-joe. :eek: not really just haven some fun.

I actually wish there was a way to preserve all 34 posts of this guy. They were by far the most classic I have ever read on the DL.

Welcome Aboard! And speaking of Elvis the Encore Western Channel is today is showing his first movie Love Me Tender made in 1955 today at 1:30 P.M. If you can't watch it be sure to see it on Sunday (09-24-06) at 4 P.M.
This is a great western set in 1865 just after the Civil War in Texas. It has a great cast and introduced Elvis in the movies. Many people thought he should have got a supporting actor nomination because his performance in this movie is outstanding especially for the first time. It's main stars are Richard Egan and Debra Padget. Egan and some conferderate soldiers rob the Yankees of $12,000 just before the war ends but when they take it to the Confederacy they find out that the war is over. They split the money up and Egan and his two brothers return to Texas where Elvis (who just barely missed going to war because he was young)and his mother are especially to marry his sweetheart Debra Padget. The catch is that due to misunderstanding it was reported that Egan had been killed in the war and Padget married Elvis. Even though Egan tries to accept the events the love between him and Padget is rekindled and this will make for future conflicts. Elvis sings four great songs even though three of them are not exactly 1865 style but this can be forgiven.
The great cast also includes character actor William Campbell (who was great with Kirk Douglas in Man Without a Star made in 1955) as one of Elvis brothers, Brett< and he is the first actor to sing with Elvis in a movie.
James Drury also stars as another brother Ray. He would be famous later in the television series The Virginian.
Neville Brand, a real WW2 hero, who served with Egan in the Army but turns into a villian that comfusses Elvis and turns him against his brother.
Robert Middleton, a great character actor, who plays a Union official that is understanding about the actions of war and wants Egan and his fellow servicemen to return the money for a pardon.

This movie is magnificient and worth watching even though it was made in black and white. Hopefully, a colorized version will be available someday. Enjoy!

Ya know that movie 3000 miles to Graceland, Well ole Kevin Costner as Thomas Murphy has these sideburns that just rock. Anyway I've got to find a pic and see if P44 can rock somthin up for me.
