comparing scores is a very unreliable method to use to rank teams IMO, altho for alot of us ... no, for 99% of us, its really all we have to go by

I know Matthew has an anti-South Texas bias and all but you can not tell me that Rio Hondo is not one of the top 25 3A teams in Texas. I'm not saying they belong in the Top 10, but at least top 25. That right there tells me this poll is total crap.

there's a regional bias just like every other poll on earth done by humans

but think of it this way, could Rio Hondo make the Region iV semifinal in their division? there are a total of 32 teams that make it that far and if you ranked all of those in a top 25 then 7 would be left out. thats 7 very good teams.

I'm honestly very surprised that Gilmer and Cuero didn't flip positions in the poll after the Buckeyes gave up 42 points on Friday.
As a matter of fact, I'm surprised that it hasn't been discussed more on here. Ya know! Buckeye-bashers looking for whatever they can find to trash us.

I Guess Bellvillle dropped at least 10, Bellville played a very good 4a Barbers Hill,If Barbers Hill would still be in 3a they would be a #1 or #2 team. One good thing in playing good teams in pre-district is getting play-off experiance early, before district rolls around. Bellville was beat by a better 4a team, bellville has scrimmaged 2 4a teams, and now will play 2 more in pre-district.
The only thing good out of playing an weak team or a 2a is you dont drop in the polls, and you dont get a loss.
Good luck to Bellville the rest of the way!

You are correct I do have a bias towards South Texas...most Valley teams won't get any love because lets be honest the brand of football played in the Valley doesn't compare to the rest of the state..top to bottom there are not that many strong teams and even the strong teams don't fare well in the playoffs...yeah there is an exception here and there but tell me when the last time a Valley team won state????? Its just the way it is...and until teams from the Valley make noise year in year out they won't get much love in any polls..mine or anyone else's...

But that's the good thing about HS Football..titles aren't won in the polls...Rio Hondo will have a chance to prove me wrong in the playoffs..

By the way tell me which team in this poll Rio Hondo could beat?

your right i feel like bashin... haha jk.. i guess yall've had enough bashing..no need to flip because there isn't much difference between 1 and 2 right now. Maybe next week if gilmer gives up another great load of points and Cuero does great against LH.. but thats jumpin the gun. Right now buckeyes still deserve 1 spot. In the end 1,2,10,72 doesnt matter. For the Rio Hondo pullers, just give it time and let them prove they belong. If its meant to be, they will make noise down the stretch.

BH might be ranked, but unlikely they'd break the Top 5. We played a four-quarter game sim against them during scrimmages (12 min quarters) and won it 33-7. They have played fairly well since the start of the season, but there are some severe weaknesses.

Cuero is a good team right now, definitely top 4, but when the
O-line gels......and with our stingy defense....Watch out, we'll be hard to beat!

Cuero is a very good team...but nobody is by any means invincible. They have speed, and then more speed...once Hargrove or Grey break lose, you might as well stop trying. But they have weaknesses...we went 21 straight on what as far as I could see was still their first team defense. But Cuero plays the game right, not too talky or anything stupid like that. Very good athletes, and I hope that we could possibly see them again in the playoffs, very fun game once we finally started to play.

You are right, but I did say hard to beat-not invincible. Everybody has weaknesses and we do as well. However, our best, most dependable, cover cornerback, which I don't ever know if I have seen him burned on coverages, was on the sidelines in street clothes. Not making excuses, cause I think ya'll have a very good team, just maybe a couple of those td's don't happen.

Well, we had both of our defensive ends out, one for the season, and the other the entire second half, and our biggest lineman has been hurt since two a days, and one of our top players got hurt on the first play of the game...so we werent without our injuries either. But I agree, Cuero should be on top of this list, even with their shaky game against Liberty Hill, by the way congratulations to LH for playing Cuero so close.
