They didn't win a scrimmage. It was a district ballgame...

They all count...

The Yoe were District Champs.

Giddings and Hutto were runnerups...

Overall Hutto has the "series" 2-1. In the '04 season, Cameron was 9-0 and Hutto was 5-4. Cameron was goin to playoffs no matter what and Hutto was staying home. All this after a previous 1-9 season for Yoe. AT Yoe field, Hutto, playing for pride beat Cameron 38-35. Yoe went to 3rd round that year and lost to Jasper. Hutto shot hoops.

Last year, Cameron was 9-0 and Hutto was 8-1 losing to Liberty Hill I believe in pre district. It was for the district title this time as both teams had beaten Giddings. This time IN Hutto, Cameron evened the series and beat the Hippos.

4 weeks later, the two met in the quarterfinals and the Hippos dominated 35-14 and went on to become state finalists.

So all in all, district is great but I say Hutto is the team that won "when it counted."

As for this year vs. last.....Giddings was NOT overrated IMHO, but Hutto definately was underrated. This year....hard to say. I plan on making their game this week as opposed to Yoe vs. Lexington so we shall see.....
