The Texarkana Liberty-Eylau Leopards (dist 16) and the Wimberley Texans (dist 25) will meet in Waxahachie, FRIDAY NIGHT, 7:30 .

The Leopards were semi-finalists in 2005, return 8/8 starters, and are 3-0 with wins over Paris North Lamar (4A), Center and Greenville (4A). They are led by QB Will Middlebrooks (2005: 82-154-7-1325, 13 TD's), who also punts/kicks. TB LaMichael James also had a good 2005 season with 76-653-10. NG Devin Bruce and LB Charles Jones each had 80 tackles in '05. Can the Leopards rally for a win over the Texans?

The Texans were the 2005 DI state champions (in case you hadn't heard ;) ), return 6/6 starters, and are 2-1 with wins over Dripping Springs (4A) and Luling, and the loss to Giddings week zero. QB Ricky Beaty is at the helm and he's joined by RB Michael Buse and WR Len Thompson. Buse also plays LB, along with Todd Gold and other returners from the "Code Red" defense. Can the defense stay on the same track of the past two weeks and contain the Leopards?

Thoughts? Predictions?

The Wimberley ISD thinks this game starts at 7 p.m. rather than 7:30.

Also, does anyone know if Wimberley streams its games online or is affiliated with a radio station which does so? I know Liberty-Eylau does not.

I would imagine most, if not all, of the Gilmer coaching staff will be at this game. Well, a token contingent will be scouting Center or Atlanta, provided they are playing that night.

Would be an upset if Wimberley wins. Isn't L-E ranked in the top ten and Wimberley is not. I pick Wimberley by 3. As far as the radio question, the answer is NO. Their games aren't broadcasted. GO Texans!!

As long as the Texans come out ready to play this game will be close. If they come out flat like they did against Giddings then their gonna be playing catch-up the whole game and its gonna get outta reach. Im still waiting on some spark to this team cause they have the talent and if they dont get it together quickly then its gonna be a long next couple weeks against some good teams. Even being a Texan fan I still think L-E in this game until the Texans actually play to there potential and stop lokking at there 05 rings.

I love my leopards, but it's time to put all the pieces together and play consistent football. They can, but they haven't. Last year started the same, so I have hopes that they will continue to improve. The kids I know are really looking forward to this game and hopefully strong competition from Wimberly.
Of course, I pick LE.

Wimberly is a slow-starter for the most part... I've noticed they kick it into high gear later on in the season...

example: They were handle by La Vernia early in the '04 season, beat the hell out of them first round of the playoffs later that year (44-7 was it?)

Last year was the same, they weren't really beating the hell out of teams earlier in the season, but what they did to the teams in the playoffs was just wacko...

I say they're still trying work things out, get everyone in the right positions etc... so I'll say LE in this game...

but don't let Wimberly fool you, these kids may be hardcore come playoffs...

and they've got some of the finest women you'll ever see in that area
