i don't think this is necessarily a good game to pick, i think we need too stick with the more known 3a schools...

Well, Anthony is a recent move-up from 2a to 3a. How else are they supposed to get known?

Not that I'm aware, but maybe someone knows someone that knows someone from one of them and can "recruit". :)

Well let's hope the game is being played in Juarez. If it is being played in Anthony the visiting team and their supporters may not make it back. Well, it could be I guess good for Anthony. Juarez may play on their team next year. :D

nver heard of either of these schools...none are ranked, known, or obviously respected football programs in 3A hahaha...WOW

so Juarez is outta mexico, eh? is the game being played in Texas? cuz if so, they better check the lockers in their locker room after the game to make sure some of the players or their families aren't hiding away in there until everyone leaves..talk about easy illegal immigration haha

Academia Juárez

Begun in 1897, Academia Juarez (or Juarez Stake Academy) is run under the direction of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is an accredited high school in both the United States and Mexico. Academia Juarez is well-known throughout the state of Chihuahua for its excellent bi-lingual curriculum. Students who attend the Academy receive intensive English or Spanish classes when they begin their studies. Upon successfully passing the Secondary Level English Proficiency (SLEP) test, students attend regular classes, which are taught in English or Spanish. Smaller than most high schools, only 440 students from Coloina Juarez and nearby Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua attend the Juarez Academy, enrolled in grades 7-12. Tuition for non LDS students is $1200 per year and $800 per year for members. Thirty percent of the student body receives financial assistance in the form of scholarships. The Academy is 74% LDS and 10% Anglo. Most of the 28 faculty members at the Academy hold bachelor degrees, five have master degrees, two are medical doctors, and four do not hold college degrees. Among other requirements, in order to be employed at the Academy, teachers must be bi-lingual and a member of the LDS Church.

This is the best info I've found on Academia Juarez so far.

I have to express concern over this game. No way this should be the game of the week. If Anthony was playing another 3A team then I could go for that (if it had some implication) but not a team from Mexico.

This may be an interesting game but should not be a Region I (Pick em) game of the week.

I do not know anything about these teams and will boycott the pick this week. Sorry team.

what cracks me up is the fact that sweetwater versus brownwood 2 weeks ago wasn't game of the week cuz brownwwod was "4A"...now a 3A vs a team pretty much not in Texas' classification system is the game of the week?!?!?! she HAS to be making a statement!!! kinda funny actually!!:D

You trying to crack on me? Hey I have no idea about this team in Region I where I have seen many teams play over the years. And of which have many good match ups this week. I don't like the choice of teams one of which is not even a Texas team. Due to this I can't give any pick this week.

So yes the Boycott.

I tried to make my statement with picking a game OTHER than Sweetwater/Brownwood. Since it didn't take, I had to take more drastic measures. :p (Actually, the real reason was that Snyder/Monahans seemed to be a better choice. )

LHPM, I think this is an interesting pick, especially after reading the story on Anthony. LOL!! Can't believe they haven't gotten more media coverage out there. This could be the cindarella story of the year. All the way from 2A cheaters to 3A domination. Hey they did beat Kermit last year. Don't let them get you down. You get to make the picks, and they are jealous. You can't pick Sweetwater every week.

Note: Any sense of sarcasm detected in this post is completely intended and the reader should realize that the views expressed are definitely shared by the UWBW organization and its asscociates.

This sint funn at all, it's a chot at a school and district where they might not have the resources that others have and they try their best to give their students the same experiences as other schools in the state. Poking fun at this game isnt in any way humorous. Sorry, but this is the way I feel. Other game sin Region 1 could of easily been the game of the week, Andrews and Monahans play again, Fort Stockton and Seminole, etc...

My apologies. I didn't do this to poke fun at any school. There are a few towns represented on here that gripe almost every week that THEIR town wasn't selected, even if their team was GotW the week prior. This was an attempt (for whatever good it will do) to try to get them to stop :bigcry: .

And honestly, if I could've found ANY info to post about the Juarez school, this would've remained the Region I game of the week. 3A football isn't just about the "known" teams, it's about all 178 or however many there are this alignment. :)

I agree, but lets put it into persepctive and think about how far and hard teams from juarez or anywhere else who dont have the things we do have to go through to even get on the field with any team and play. They obviously are not very good but they get on th efield and put their pads on just like teams in texas do. I applaud them for playing a "foreign" game.

You are taking what she was trying to do ENTIRELY out of context.

This was just 2 teams that have NO posters on this board.....it was done to teach a lesson NOT to degrade either of these schools!!

I understand, just shedding some light on the subject while it is present, it's not a every day thread... I see where the games of the week are always the same and all. Change them up, alot of good football is played in TX.
