He wasn't going to play so why activate him?

This was their #1 pick, he was to battle for a starting LB job and play special teams. He doesn't even suit out???

Did the Cowboys make a bad decision?

The Cowboys didn't expect the Greg Ellis experiment to work out. They also thought Al Singleton was done. Ellis has come on fine and Singleton still has some game left. Thus, Carpenter has been spending time inside. Perhaps the 'boys did make a bad decision. They are awfully deep at linebacker.

.
The depth of that position is exactly why he hasn't dressed. He might be good in the future and the boys don't want to give him up now, especially after using that pick on him.

Most #1 picks should start, unless you're grooming a QB. Could of drafted a pretty good offensive lineman, somthing they really need.

They also could have drafted an offensive lineman that wouldn't see the field and they would release in a couple of years. They've had some success in that area recently!
