ah, now I see why it was stolen... he was flipping off someone, and they got mad and stole the guitar....

Actually he's just playing a G, but I like my theory...

Most pros only play G like that if they are playing in D.

It's much easier to play G with the middle ring and pinky if you are playing in the key of G because it is a smoother transition to C.

Of course nobody plays most of those old school closed cords nowadays anyways.:D

depends on how fast I'm playing... if slower I'll hold my G as he's doing, if faster I'll hold it as you're explaining...

hmm, just tried it,im not a fan. then again, i dont use my pinky on the g, broke my ring finger many moons ago and it bends wierd now, making me able to hold both the bottom strings at once.....it works for me

It feels weird for me too, mainly because I never had lessons, just wanted an electric because my step-bro had one and my grandfather had always played... then my grandfather died so I got his acoustics, figured out sweet home alabama and played that for about 6 damn years and that's your basic D C and G... always held my C like my G... so now that I hold C the other way on some songs my friend told me to hold my G the other way to make the transition smoother, just weird...

So far I don't get technical with the guitar... it's an A, B, C, D, E, F, or G to me, all of that minor/major/etc... crap will have to wait... I can play it, I just don't know what it's called...

my friend knows all of that crap so I pick up some from him every now and then... but I'm still the better player :p

i never had lessons aswell, was tuff at the beginning, but now im loving it. i dont know many of the chord names either, but i can play most of it. started on the acoustic then made the switch to electric this past year. i love it, i can play really fast solos on electric that would drive me crazy on the acoustic.
