Phil, there was a great Texas/US History series called the "Mexican-American War" on the educational TV Ch. 13 last night. It was all about the US/Mexican War of 1846. Lots of good info about South Texas locations during that war, like Ft. Texas and Port Isabel.

Thank you Bull! An interesting note belowis the Gadsden purchase the USA made in 1853 to get more land to build a canal there (a project never done). The USA paid a very high price for that land. Many people thought they did that because of the land that we took from Mexico.
