Texas Tech already snagged its quarterback for its 2008 recruiting class, getting an oral commitment from Wolfforth Frenship junior quarterback Seth Doege.
Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a recruit in the Class of 2008 can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 6, 2008.
Tech coaches offered Doege (6-2, 200) a scholarship even though he tore the ACL in his left knee during an intrasquad game five weeks ago. Doege, who has already had surgery and started his rehab, said he could return this season if Class 4A Frenship makes the state semifinals.
Doege moved to Wolfforth last spring. He played quarterback his first two seasons at Class 2A Crane, where he had a 22-6 record as a starter. He threw for 2,349 yards, 27 touchdowns and four interceptions his sophomore season.
