View Full Version : What jersey should I get?

My wife is buying me a Dallas Cowboys jersey. Which one should I get?

I thought about getting a classic Aikman jersey, but then again it would be nice to have one of somebody that is currently on the team. Right now I'm leaning toward Roy Williams. He's with us for the next 5 years and can flat out lay some licks on people?

My wife suggested the customized jersey with my name on it, but that seemed kind of cheesy.

Any thoughts? (If you don't like the Cowboys, please don't respond with "Why would you want to waste your money?" or something stupid like that.);)

I love all those guys from the 90s, but I just loved Bill Bates. He was always too slow, too short, too small to make it in the NFL.

I just loved watching that guy make play after play after play.

for me...when it comes to shirts/jerseys with player names...I like to be original. Like for the Mavs, I bought Marquis Daniels last year. This year will probably be Mo Ager...but that could change. I bought a Stars jersey on eBay and I'm thinking I'm going to have either Steve Ott or maybe go for Sydor now that he is back.

For the Cowboys...go for somebody like a Bradie James or Marcus Spears. Those guys are integral parts of the team but don't get as much hype as the others. Heck...James looks poised for a breakout year. Jump on the bandwagon now before it's "the cool thing to do."

I have two Cowboys jerseys right now...Julius Jones in the blue and Quincy Carter in the alternate silver color that they've sold jerseys the last few years...

I'd suggest avoiding the custom jerseys with your own name on it...that's always seemed weird to me.

Roy Williams wouldn't be a bad choice, although it is a bit cliche. Personally, I'd rather have a Jason Witten jersey.

http://www.buzzlife.com/forums/images/smilies/hysterical.gif As much as I like Farve, Farve and Bledsoe should start their Broadcasting careers, quick!

I tried getting a Romo jersey for my hubby (that's what they call him for short) and also our anniversary is coming up next month. But anyhow, they don't carry it, I guess I will have to go with the customized one.

yea I had to say the Bledsoe joke..even though I am not ready for Romo just yet...it was just the perfect chance for a good zinger

a couple of more..

The had to Pull the special O.J. Simpson jersey cause they could not get the blood stains out

Nate Newton's throwback jersey was cancelled because the blue star clashed with the prision orange

The Texas Longhorn jersey for Chris Simms was pulled for safety reasons because everytime someone wore it they choked.

Story I heard on why the 'boys wear white at home when most teams wear darks.

As you know it gets pretty hot here in Texas. It was a way to stay cooler by wearing white and having the other teams wear their dark jersey in the Texas sun.

Just something I heard but it does make sense.

As said in another thread...It was a marketing thing by Tex Schram...He wanted the whites at home because

A. They looked better on TV than the blues
B. If they wore white at home and most road games they would become branded and known
C. He said good guys wear white

All three GENUIS marketing by the wizard himself...he also claimed that this would allow the home fans to see the color of other teams, but that was just to hide his real reasons

They're hard to come by in stores...I haven't been to a Cowboys Pro Shop in the last couple of weeks, but I know that they're not carried at Sports Authorities or Academies right now.

Luckily, I got mine off the internet a few weeks ago!

Believe it or not, the NFL won't let you do anything like that. Rules state that you cannot make a customized jersey using the names and numbers of a player currently on a different team.

The problem is, if your name is something like "Smith" or "Johnson", you're severely limited in the number choices that you can have.
