Tatum scores. 21-14 with 11:19 to go in second quarter.

Give the Eagles credit. Most teams fold when they get two down to the Bucks. Gilmer's 'D' can be run on. Tatum is proving that tonight.

Justin Johnson scores on 26-yard pass. PAT good. 28-14, Buckeyes.

Tatum QB Cashas Pollard scores from one yard out, capping 68-yard drive. PAT good. Just over 4 min. left before halftime. 28-21, Buckeyes.

Tatum has forced the Buckeyes to punt for the first time all season. No, it was a fake and Lennon Creer stopped the ball carrier, Curtis Brown, just short of the first down. Eagles take over at own 28. Less than a minute to go before halftime.

Jules Johnson of the Buckeyes intercepts Pollard with 19 seconds left at his own 37.

Kinne hits Thompson right quick for about a 56-yard gain. Time out Gilmer with six seconds left. First-and-goal at Tatum 7.

Burgin hits 24-yard field goal for Gilmer. We are at halftime at SRO Buckeye Stadium and it's 31-21, Buckeyes. But this game is a long way from over. Tatum is holding its own.

31-21 at thehalf..is a barn burner

It was Johnson who made the 56-yard gain, not Thompson, and it was a hook-and-ladder play. Traylor's pulling out all the stops.

Are you at the game Russ?

If you are, I hate you :)

No, actually I'm listening to a Carthage radio station because I'll be able to hear Matt and Todd on the video replay tomorrow.

The Tatum broadcast team is very good. I knew that from last season's playoffs. Not taking anything away from Matt and Todd. Just wanted to hear a different perspective.

tatum is about to blow gilmer away

Aesculus gilmus

Tatum has recovered the opening kickoff at the Gilmer 32. Creer just gained 9 yards. Now Bell has been thrown for a 2-yard loss. Pollard to D Mo on a rare pass down to the 16.

Aesculus gilmus

Buckeyes recover fumble at their own 10. Still 31-21.

Aesculus gilmus

Kinne goes in from one foot out to cap 90-yard drive. There was a long pass to someone (whose name I didn't catch) down to the Tatum 22 of about 60 yards. Brennan Thompson caught the pass taking it to the one-foot line. Burgin's PAT good. 4:21 left in third. 38-21, Buckeyes.

im pretty sure it was curtis brown with the long reception

The long pass a few minutes ago was to Curtis Brown and actually was for 62 yards.

they're on the 1 yd line, end of 3rd

Aesculus gilmus
09-08-2006, 09:57 PM
Pollard just go intercepted on fourth down and it was returned for a Gilmer TD. Tatum broadcasters are saying Cashas Pollard was "cheap shotted" after the INT.

Burgin's PAT is good. 10:45 to go in the game. Buckeyes 45, Eagles 21.

MagicMan
09-08-2006, 09:58 PM
why would they throw a pass from gilmers one yard line?

Aesculus gilmus
09-08-2006, 10:00 PM
I dunno. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" maybe? Johnson returned it 96 yards. But I'm not sure which Johnson. Maybe Gtownpoke can tell us.

Txbroadcaster
09-08-2006, 10:04 PM
If he returned it 96 yards then they were not at the one, because the return is counted from where he caught it,,so it sounds like a flag or something had pushed them back

Aesculus gilmus
09-08-2006, 10:07 PM
Cashas was on a bootleg, so it's possible (and I think I heard) he threw it from about the 15. So he was retreating at the time.

Txbroadcaster
09-08-2006, 10:09 PM
LOL that aint retreating to roll from the 1 to the 15, that is a flat out running for your life scramble

Aesculus gilmus
09-08-2006, 10:12 PM
What can I say? If you're a Tatum broadcaster, I guess you try to cast it in more favorable terms than that.

Lamar Harris just intercepted a "jump ball" in the corner of the EZ. Ball comes out to the 20. Jamell Kennedy comes in at QB for the Buckeyes. Some fans heading for the exits.

after the hutto/tatum game last year. I dont think the tatum anouncers need to question any calls against them

Aesculus gilmus
09-08-2006, 10:15 PM
Correction. Kinne is still at QB. Buckeyes have moved down to Tatum 31.

Aesculus gilmus

We've had a fumble by Gilmer and now an INT thrown by Tatum. I'm still not sure whether it was Kinne or Kennedy in on that last series at QB. Whatever. Game's now over anyhow. Gilmer wins, 45-21.

Yeah, congratulations to the Buckeyes and I hope they are the ONLY Buckeyes to win this weekend.

Apparently it WAS Kennedy in at QB on the last series.

This was the "DQ Game of the Week" on FSSW. You can see highlights at midnight.

this game was a very close one till the 4th quarter. tatum had the screen down to perfection and gilmer couldnt do anything about it. if i was tatum i would have kept that play coming it may have been a different story, they were getting a good 12-15 a pop with it. then 3 was an amazing running back.

gilmer has its studs aswell, the whole team is fast, strong, and well....just awesome. i see them going 10-0 and continue winning in 3a, and maybe state

tatum will win state again this year

Gilmer just toyed with Tatum. Sure they can be ran on, but it was so effortless for gilmer to score on just about any play. I thought the best player was #22. That kid is a stud of a running back.

Any stats on this game? I heard that Tatum turned the ball over at least 3 times in the red zone, one which went 99 yards for a Gilmer Score. Looks like if Tatum would of took care of the ball, this could of been a much closer game. Not making any excuses, because a lot of those turnovers might of been the result of the Gilmer defense. How close was the total yards?

Gilmer' depth wore Tatum down: plain and simple. Tatum starts 7 kids both ways, and Gilmer doesn't "start" any both ways. The only player who sees significant time on both sides of the ball is Justin Johnson #22 (RB/LB).
Though Tatum's conditioning was in the upper echelon, they ran out of gas at the end of the game. Gilmer puts alot of pressure on an opponent for four quarters, and, to their credit, the Eagles hung in as long as they could.

Gilmer Tatum
