How many bakeries are there in Caldwell that actually bake them? The only one in town I know of is the Kolache Capital bake shop and they were so-so

About 130 miles - best way is to take I-35 north, turn right at exit ramp toward Luling and hit Highway 21 toward Bastrop, where it becomes 71 briefly. Then follow signs in Bastrop (where it resumes Highway 21) to Caldwell toward Bryan.

My grandma would get up at 3 am to let the dough rise three times about 30-plus years ago. Sure miss her.

Yea the two best bakeries to cash in on is Blue Ribbon Bakery out of Bryan and Snook Baking Company (awesome cream cheese one).

Both win in various categories at the festival.

It seemed to take forever to just get to Bastrop from SA. Too many slow-pokes on the FM roads from San Marcus. Ok, it was hwy 21 but it sure looked like a Farm to Market to me.

La Grange has some good kolaches too. Stop off HWY 71 exit at the McDonald's sign and get your fresh Kolaches across the street at Weikles Bakery. That place is crowded on Saturday mornings! Great pigs in a blanket too!:inlove:

but lots of new road construction and a new overpass where the new highway is being constructed (Hwy 130).

You should take exit in San Marcos toward Luling before turning left to Bastrop. Glad you mentioned that.

Yep, theirs are tasty too. There's a bakery out of Ennis who traditionally does well, too. Lots of Czechs from there.

Found that one last month on a trip to Dallas. They were very good and only cost $6.50 a dozen. (Exit 251B off I-45)
