I am a UT fan of course but for the Aggie friends that post here I want to give some information about some of its' history.

The Aggies had great teams from 1939 to 1941. They were MNC (Mythical National Champions which means they were decided by polls rather than on the field quite often) in 1939 and had a 20 game winning streak starting in late 1938 until late 1940. Ironically the streak started after UT beat them in 1938 6 to 7 and continued until 1940 when UT beat them again 7 to 0. The Aggies' 1941 team was also good and only lost to Texas near the end of the season and to Alabama in the Cotton Bowl. Texas had one of its' greatest teams in 1941.

The Aggies had great success in the late teens but especially 1919 and were probably really the MNCs. That great Aggie team was not scored on at all during the year and scored 275 points going a perfect 10 - 0 season record (bowls were not common then). The two closest games the Aggies had were the ones with UT and Southwestern in which they won both games by the same 7 to 0 score.

Remarkable years indeed for the Aggies who must be given credit even though I am a UT fan.

I don't think he was bashing.

And you act as if there isn't bashing of UT on this website. Where's your compassion when that happens?

Hahaha, it never ends, which keeps it interesting. wish i could stay, but one aggie ought to be enough to hold the fort for a while.

now back to the subject. those were "great" teams Phil, but i dont think it takes a great team to be exciting. i used to love to watch Bucky, Rodney Thomas, Graig Hill, Leland Mcelroy, Quentin Coryatt, as well as the other great aggie linebackers. they werent a great team per se, but very exciting to watch.

Actually, Phil, a MNC refers to a "Media National Championship."

if it wasnt meant to be a bashing why would you leave out so many other good teams from more recent years, how about these from the past 20
86 9-3, 7-1 in confrerence
87 10-2, 6-1 in conference
91 10-2, 8-0 in conference
92, 12-1, 7-0 in conference
93 10-2, 7-0 in conference
94 10-0-1, 6-0-1 in conference
98 11-3, 7-1 in conference

this was clearly just a sarcastic stab at A&M, and was totally pointless...thank you for showing your maturity and i'm sure you fit in well with the t sips in Austin

Oh and congratulations for being Number One T.U.
#1 party school that is maybe if it wasn't for that your players wouldn't be in trouble for drugs

My purpose was to point out some of the history that probably isn't as well known as recent teams or players. I was trying to inform more than snub. I need to pull up my post on Harold Cowley if I can. I try to tell some positive history and get acused of bashing. Go figure.

dont compain of bashing and then come with your own. Phil was giving an example of a "great" aggie team. the ones you listed as i said earlier were good, exciting squads, but you cant lump them in the greatest as those earlier aggie teams were.

They are a great soccer team and hopefully both they and UT will do well in the playoffs if they can avoid injuries.

One of the better A&M teams not mentioned was the '75 one that probably had one of the best college defenses of all time. Ed Simonini, Lester Hayes, Pat Thomas and others. Offense wasn't up to level of defense and that hurt them. They beat UT and were like 4th or 5th in nation and then lost to Arkansas in final reg game and to USC in bowl game. Don't remember which bowl.
Oklahoma won MNC but aggies had legitimate shot after beating texas.

I tend to agree with what Mack Brown said a few years ago about Texas and A&M.
He'd like them to be ranked 1 and 2 in the nation every year when they play to where almost everybody in state is talking about game and there's also national attention. He felt that would insure that more quality Texas football players remain in state of texas when being recruited.
Of course he did say he wanted UT to win that game between #1 & #2 every year.

Wow, I actually agree with you on something.

Some of you don't seem to realize that going through a ten game regular season schedule without anyone scoring on you is remarkable even in 1919. Not one point. No tds, extra points or safeties. That is something that may not ever be done again.

What is remarkable is that from the later part of 1918 throught near the end of 1920 the Aggies were unscored on in 19 straight games. This is remarkable. During that time they won 17 games and had two scoreless ties and had a perfect season in 1919. Ironically the streak started with a 0 - 7 loss to Texas in 1918 and ended with a same 0 - 7 loss to Texas in 1920 in the last game of the year. The scores of the games during that 19 game streak follows with the Aggies score first:

1918
Camp Travis 60 - 0
Remount Station 0 - 0 (scoreless tie)

1919 (all but 3 games were in College Station)
Sam Houston 77 - 0
Soutwest State 28 - 0
SMU 16 - 0
Howard Payne 12 - 0
Trinity 42 - 0
Oklahoma State 28 - 0
Baylor 10 - 0
TCU 48 - 0
Southwestern 7 - 0
Texas 7 - 0

1920
Daniel Baker 111 - 0
SMU 3 - 0
LSU 0 - 0 (scoreless tie)
Phillips 47 - 0
Oklahoma State 35 - 0
Baylor 24 - 0
Rice 7 - 0

A remarkable streak indeed. Talk about that your opponents can't beat you if they don't score!

Ironically, in 1922 the Aggies beat Ouachita College 19 to 6. An athlete form this college (Cliff Harris ) was later to become a great defensive back for the Dallas Cowboys in the 1970s.
