Just now I looked in the freezer to pick something out for lunch tomorrow and at the back of the freezer is a vent looking thing and you can see some coils through the vent. The coils were glowing orange and was sizzling a little bit. Is that normal? After a minute or so it stopped glowing.

i dont know if that is something that regulates the temperature or what....it does have me a little nervous now

i found out....it is the defrost heater. It says the red glow in normal during the defrost cycle....i will sleep better tonight

No doubt. Try convincing a 14 year old to read the owners manual or read instructions. Teenagers, they think they know it all.
