3. Mathis (1-0) beat Odem 20-7
4. Orange Grove (1-0) beat Banquete 35-0
5. Rio Hondo (1-0) beat Weslaco East 28-14
6. Aransas Pass (1-0) beat San Diego 39-0
7. Zapata (1-0) beat Carrizo Springs 30-13
8. West Oso (1-0) beat Falfurrias 14-6
9. Port Isabel (0-1) lost to Edcouch-Elsa 7-49
10.La Feria (0-0) idle
11. Falfurrias (0-1) lost to West Oso 6-14
12. Lyford (0-1) lost to Hebbronville 24-28
13. Hidalgo (0-1) lost to Mercedes 20-50
14. Raymondville (0-1) lost to Premont 17-22

wow i hadnt noticed but that ranking looks some avg to below teams in south texas. This is not a good year for South texas

AP looked good in their win.
Mathis beat a decent Odem team.

Lyford & Raymondville losing to 2A teams didn't exactly help the overall picture. Aransas Pass was impressive, but San Diego is not very good at all. The Mathis score was a surprise on the positiive side. Another good surprise was Orange Grove drubbing what was supposed to be a solid Banquete team that had beaten them the past 2 years

Mathis at number 3 will not last. Odem is down this year. Rio Hondo needs to be above them. Zapata should be as well.

Mathis & OG at 3-4 is a tossup. I'm not sold on Zapata or Rio Hondo just yet. Zapata beat a weak Carrizo Springs team and RH made their score look more impressive than it really was, scoring on an INT on the game's final play. Weslaco East, though 4A, is definitely no powerhouse.
