View Full Version : Region II Game of the Week (1): Tatum @ Gilmer

The 2005 DII state champs, Tatum Eagles, will be taking on the Gilmer Buckeyes.

Tatum, who dropped to 2A in the last alignment, went 15-0 on the way to their state championship in 2005. They return 12 starters (6/6) and have D1 prospects in Lennon Creer and Darnius Moore. Do the Eagles have what it takes to win?

Gilmer, led by QB G.J. Kinne, are PPHSfan's undisputed "hide 'n watch" team to win the 2006 state championship in DI. Kinne may not be the most sought after by colleges, since the team also includes WR's Jamell Kennedy and Curtis Brown. Can the Buckeyes overcome the 2005 champs?

Thoughts? Predictions? Anything left to be said after the original thread? ;)

Just by hear-say, gotta go with the buckeyes. I hear that this could be a better team then the one that won it all in 2004.

Thier game against Snyder was the day after Wylie won state, so I was able to attend. that team was awesome, and if people think that this Gilmer team is better, that is saying alot.

Isn't the third power sqared, the same as the fourth power?

I think you are wrong. :D

The third power squared is the fourth power.

Just as if the eighth power squared would be the ninth power.

Just heard from Red Mustache, he said that the Tatum boys are all fired up. They didn't play a great first game because they were looking ahead to this game. Don't worry, they aren't looking past friday night. ;)

2006 heisman hopeful qb gj kinne of the gilmer buckeyes looks to lead his team to victory this friday night at buckeye stadium when they face the tatum eagles. the buckeyes, winners of the past 15 class 3a state championships, believe tatum, a bunch of losers, will be no match for their high-powered offensive attack. Recently signed left tackle for gilmer, flozell adams, believes the outcome of this game will be decided in the trenches because john madden said so.

I'm going with Tatum. I heard they put it to Kilgore in there first scrimmage. That's a 4A team that is pretty good.

I don't care if Kilgore did lose alot of kids. They are year in and year out pretty good. That got to say something for Tatum. I know it was just a scrimmage, but when a 2A can hang with a 4A school that means that they are pretty good. That is some pretty good talentfor Tatum when they can play with a school that probably has nearly 4 times the manpower to choose from.

Tatum did not lose most of their players..they return 6 Off and 6 Def. Gilmer returns 9 Off and 6 Def..so a difference of 3 players.

Also for everyone that remembers what Gilmer did to Tatum in 2004 need to remember one thing...This Tatum team is not built like that one. The 2004 Eagles were about offensive explosion, spreading the field and scoring in bunches. This fit right into Gilmer's style as well, and Gilmer outscored them

Tatum now is more of a grind it out with the backs, then have Pollard hit a big pass over the top. They have a better scheme on defense and they have the ball control style of offense that can play keep away from Gilmer.

This is a game I will not predict, but it should be fun

Tatum's got that lignite coal mine nearby being used to power a generating plant.
http://www.txucorp.com/power/plants/martin_lake.aspx

They can't help but play dirty. :D

Also, some of their players have so much mercury in their bodies that they can take their own temperature.

But a lot of them are real "live wires" and that's why you see so many "electrifying" runs by Tatum players.

I'm lobbying to get Upshur County one of the two new nuclear plants TXU is planning. I'm thinking we could modify the mascot to have a Buckeye in the center of the atom rather than the nucleus.
