I think the Hill takes this one in a close match.

Yes, Jasper is in a rebuilding year, and as Jody probably will say, does not have a chance. ;) I am expecting a good game!

Jasper may very well be 0 for non-district.

I predict BH wins by 3 or less in a low scoring game.

If Jody were a betting man, he would be bankrupt many times over for his ridiculous picks, but this one time he may get it right.

I am picking Jasper all the way. If you will check your Texas map, you will see that Jasper is EAST of the Trinity River, and BH cannot beat anyone East of the Trinity River. Nuff said! ;) :D

Jasper seems down this year, but the Eagles will not take them lightly. Jasper is well coached and always has speed , so it should be a good game. The BH Defense is much improved this year and the offense is playing fair ,but not running on all 8 just yet. Jody and I will be making the trip along with Shellman and Eagletown, so if any of you Jasper folks would like to beat Jody I'll bring him to ya at half time:D J/K should be a good game hope to seeya some of the Jasper folks their and I promise we won,t wear the Jasper Sucks shirst this year:D

We beat Bridge City :D

We plan on throwing a sacrifice Bud Light into the mighty Trinity in hopes that it will let us slid this one time:D

A down year for Jasper will still mean that the Bulldogs will put more athletes on the field than the Hill. I see this as a toss up. So Barbers Hill boys don't be betting on this one. It's in Jasper also. I'm pulling for the Eagles in a close one.

i am pulling for barbers hill on this one.. sucks that i have to go to our game in carthage instead of watching a game that is ten min away against two of kirbyville's key teams. but i do have a feeling that bh will win because jasper doesnt look so good this year...

Barbers Hill will be too tough for Jasper.

If BH can run the ball, then Jasper is in trouble. We haven't stopped the run yet this year. Those boys on that line are gonna have to toughen up.

#14 looked pretty good. I think it was #35 or 25 that was impressive. Any truth to Spikes coming back this year?

Believe it or not, Coach Brack told me #14 WAS Spikes! And he should know. So I guess Spikes IS back. We have heard so many different stories. Spikes will be a force for sure. :) Coach said he didn't know why #40, Adams was not playing at RB, but that he is also a force. Hopefully he will be there for BH.

I wasn't thrilled by the gameplan against Livingston. I was only there for the 2nd half, but I'm afraid that an offense where 40% of the plays involve QB runs will find us with a .500 record by season's end. I know our team's youth is also a major factor. Hopefully they'll look better as the season goes on.

Jasper has got a tough non district schedule. As soon as this one is done they get the big reward of Newton. However, I think it will help Jasper as long as they can stay healthy.

The way we run the spread incorporates the QB carrying the ball a lot. Its not like it was a whimsical gameplan, it is something we have been doing since we started running this offense.

Was it originally designed to maximize Moye's ability and then things changed but they just stuck with it?

no, we had the same plays back when we had Jordan Patton. Moye definitely fit the mold perfectly though, thats when they moved patton to just straight RB.

It started in Brooks's second year here when we had Ricky and Jason McQueen. Those big linemen we had also helped alot.

yeah, but you didnt notice the qb running as much seeing as Ricky had a CANNON and we had a lot more passing plays.

Now that you mention Ricky, Ellis reminds me a lot of Ricky. And Ellis is at that level as a Soph. :) Except that Ellis might be a tad quicker.

If that's the case, I wonder why they don't have him throwing the ball more.

well well well, looks like jasper could have a run for their money against kville... we beat newton in the scrimmage 21-0 and diboll (not an accurate score),and whooped up on cleveland 51-10, and we go to play a 4 a team as well on fri. Jasper was the only one in our district to lose their opener. This one is going to be close.

Jason1725

If he is like Ricky then we should be throwing more. Ricky was good and we have not had anyone that could throw the ball like him since he left. I think we have to throw more if for no other reason than to keep the defense honest.

Sorry but he's NOT Ricky...Jasper will run the ball with a few short passes mixed in and hope the defense can stop the run. This will be a test for Jasper and the Newton faithfull are pulling for you against those flatlanders.

We have to remember This is Ellis' first year to start. We might open up and throw later in the season when he is more comfortable in his situation.

The passes I saw were mostly right on the money. One receiver dropped a pass right in his hands that would have been a big first down. That was not Ellis's fault.

He seemed to have a hard time finding receivers, but for the most part his passes were crisp.

You have to know what your doing, if anyone is interested e-mail me at JDiddy1725@yahoo.com, I can get you in free and you will get to be on the sidelines. I was just asked to take pictures again and can't do both, so I need somoeone to film. So e-mail me if your interested.

Jasper's in a rebuilding year and there JV seemed to have a little trouble with BH's JV last night (44-14). But it will still be fairly close I think.

BH - 27
Jasper - 14
