why is Sinton on the list, and Ingleside who tore Tuloso Midway (4a) a new one, not on there?

Because Wimberley lost the M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y of its team from last year.

Winning state one year for the first time in one's school history does not a "perennial" powerhouse make.

Giddings is good, but WImberley is average this year.

Wait until four weeks into the regular season and then start your solicitation.

JESUS!

I second that. Sinton hasn't quite proved that they should be on this list just yet.

WHOAA Snyder lost to Monnahans? and what happened to wylie

Matthew328

Abilene Wylie lost to an average Brownwood team 18-14....I didn't penalize Sinton or Kennedale too much for losing to outstanding teams.....we'll see after this week what happens....Ingleside beat Tuloso-Midway but they aren't exactly a power...at least Sinton did play a top notch team but me thinks I may have overrated the Pirates a bit also...LOL

Matthew, no disrespect but, an average Brownwood team??? I'm not sure where you got this information but I would definitely have to disagree. Not because I'm defending Wylie but watching Brownwood play both scrimmages I don't see how you can say that. Please give me more of an explanation...?

Ingleside will eventually show they belong in your rankings in next few weeks hopefully, But Sinton defense makes Sinton team still be considered top 25 team.

Brownwood is a very pedestrian 4A team IMO..they have done nothing of note the past few years...and they'll be doing good to get 4th place in their district this year.....yes their district is tough but Brownwood wouldnt make the playoffs in a lot of 4A districts this year..

.
Defense wins Championships, no doubt. But come on man, you need an offense to get a few yards and score a time or two.:p :p
.
I'd say Ingleside should be at Sinton's spot. If our line comes together(and the Pirates can consistently get better on O) and the defense improves at all, we might have some consideration for a top 25 spot by district.
.
lol
I have to say maybe Matthew has a soft spot for Sinton?:D :inlove:

Shouldn't there be an "AARRGGHHH" in there with the rest of that verbage so the Pirates can understand what you're saying?:D

Kinda like -
"AARRGGHH - Me thinks I may have overrated the Pirates a bit...."

It's a tough one. Unless CC Miller finally puts all that talent together, the first real test that Ingleside will face will be Sinton. Sure, they'll play a couple of playoff teams here and there (Zapata, both AP and OG should be in the running from D30), but our boys won't get a real litmus test until week 10.

Give the nod to Sinton, Matt. There's nothing wrong with that pick.

They PROVED they were No. 1 with a 29-0 shutout over Sinton last Friday night.

a shut out over Sinton proves a #1 spot? Now don't get me wrong, I'm not about to knock Cuero or anything but truth is, region 4 (at least in 3A) is traditionally weak. In the past 25 years, only SEVEN state championships have come from that region. TWO came from Sealy who has been region 3 for a while now. Just thought I'd point that out....

Notice where he's from. ;)

Oh, and:
1982- Refugio
1984- Medina Valley
1987- Cuero
1994-97 Sealy (x4)
2000- LaGrange (D2)
2002- Bandera (D2)
2005- Wimberley (D1)

I'm no math major, but that looks like more than seven. Back to your argument that R4 is weak this year, I'd agree. Just pointing out that your facts are a little off.

R4 went through some boon years from 1994 through last year, but they're definitely down this year.

actually, for 2 of those championships, Sealy was region III. 1995 & 1994. But I did count wrong and it is 8 championships total , not 7.

Let's see here... they were the only team besides Everman who could step on the same field with Sinton back in '01. They've made the playoffs every year since, and that Bi-District loss to Giddings last year should've been a Quarterfinal game.

And just for your sake, I won't say they were good in 2005. I'll just say that they went 2-1 against AP top ten teams. And then I'll say they returned more starters than any 3A team in Texas and are the single most underrated team in the state this year.

I've got them as my number three, behind only Cuero and Gilmer. They're not quite in Cuero's or Gilmer's league, but by the same token nobody else is in their league, IMHO.

Bellville has a football program that ranks very high for the past 6 years for most wins.
Last night we defeated a good columbia team 42-13. They were #1 ranked team in the Houston area.

Anyone who has seen Caldwell play in its first two games, including a 47-6 win over Elgin (who lost 48-24 to state finalist Hutto) and a 27-0 win over Rockdale (who previously beat Gonzales 30-7) realizes the Hornets' potential.
