View Full Version : Agassi's Last Hurrah...2nd round

Agassi is up an early break 5-3 on Baghdatis in the 1st set. While there HS football is starting up tonight...we must remember that this is Agassi's last tournament. He has an incredibly tough match tonight in world #8 Marcos Baghdatis. The odds are definitely against Agassi...but hopefully the great New York crowd willl root him along.

He's doing pretty good (at least from what I've seen between watching Graham/GW and trying to catch the Snyder game). I'm hoping he'll win this one and continue on.

LET'S GO ANDRE, LET'S GO!!! :D :D :D

the starters are out...TO made his appearance (I assume...I haven't watched) so it's on to root on Agassi. I've never been this into 1st and 2nd round matches!

Romo, Barber, Rector, etc... are pretty exciting.

Owens made his appearance. He'll be fine.

Bledsoe was knocked out and is in the locker room.

haha...surprise, surprise. I can't wait to hear the ESPN local guys ripping Bill for playing Bledsoe tonight.

Baghdatis has called for the trainer. He sprained his left wrist late in the first set and has had some ugly backhands since. The trainer isn't doing anything for him...and he put a wrist band on his right wrist...that seemed like a waste of time.

Agassi has lost a lot of depth and "pop" on his strokes. They are landing very short and that is allowing Baghdatis to control the points. What worries me is that if Baghdatis does start to cramp...he will likely start hitting drop shots and Agassi doesn't move forward very well.

Look at Agassi going to the net...he NEVER does this. He's leaving it all out on the court tonight. This is greatness!!!

Adidas4I0s
08-31-2006, 10:51 PM
Agassi holds and is up 2-1 now. Better yet...he's hitting out on the ball and he's showing positive energy...he's not pressing for shots anymore!!! He can do this!!!

the key will be for Agassi to get longer points going. He can out rally Baghdatis from the baseline...especially with his strained left quad

Adidas4I0s
08-31-2006, 10:56 PM
wow...back to back winners by both players. That was just sick!!!

Adidas4I0s
08-31-2006, 11:02 PM
lol...and Agassi just took out a fan in the 2nd row with a return that shanked off of his racquet...

3-3 in games now

HMM...I can't get chat to load for some reason.

Agassi needs to break to win this. Baghdatis is getting by pretty easy on his serve so that would give him an advantage in the tiebreaker.

This is a HUGE chance for Agassi in this game...dang it

awesome! now Becker plays Agassi.....Becker played Tennis at Baylor and was on our National Championship team and won the NCAA Singles title here...he was great in college and now he is doing great in the pros, however i think i'll have to pull for Agassi in this one, Becker is young and will have time to write his legacy i want to see Agassi go out a winner...

glad to see Agassi play so well tonight ... he is moving like he did 10 years ago, probably better shape right now ... amazing!

he should be able to take Becker in 3, but it will be interesting. He needs time to recover and he doesn't really have it.

I remember when Agassi said he hated the NY crowd and that he'd never go back. . . well not really, I was too young, but still, ya'll get my point. I hope Andre pulls out another few. I really don't think he'll win it b/c he'd have to play at the top of his game when he was about 7 to 8 years ago to beat Federer, but still, I hope he goes as far as he can. I know it'll probably be a more saddening moment when he goes than when Sampras went for me.

Did anyone think Baghdatis' cramping last night was more a ploy than a real injury? He was an old man in between points and a 21 year old during play. I don't doubt he had cramps. I think some of that was acting, though.
