Huff hit a hard grounder to first. The first baseman tagged the bag while falling over it and threw home. The catcher thought the force was still in effect and didn't tag the runner! Astros win 1-0!

Once the 1B stepped on the bag, all the runners could've stayed put since there was no longer a force in effect. The runner at 3rd (Scott?) advanced at his own risk.

think it was Lamb

thought he touched the bag with his glove too...

is there a difference between a foot and a glove on the bag in this situation?

Lamb was on third. I was reading the foxsports recap and I couldn't figure out how huff grounded out to first base AND got the run home.... Thanks for the update.

actually it was a liner that got snagged... great hack at it on Huff's part, great snag on the first baseman's part, no bueno using the bag to help yourself up (well that's what it looked like, may have meant to tag it)...

From what I saw, it was a grounder to first, and the catcher thought it was supposed to be a force out at home, when in reality what the first baseman did was take the force off at every base, now if he would have reached over and tagged berkman, who like an idiot, was standing on first still, the game would have been over. Instead the catcher only tagged home and didnt try to tag the runner.

whew

Berkman left the bag then came back now that I remember...

Maybe Cruz called him back because he thought it wasn't a grounder?

I dont know what happened, all I know is that it could have been VERY bad for Lance to be standing there. All the first baseman had to do was tag that ankle and its extra innings

Yup, but it's one more win keeping us in the wild-card hunt so I'm happy...

it was definitely a grounder, if it was a liner then lamb would have had to tag up and even Willie is not fast enough to tag and beat a throw home from 1st base.....Berkman went back to first because the ball was hit so hard he was barely off the bag, he might have thought it was a line out but i think he figured if he didnt go back to 1st he would have been tagged by the 1st baseman before Lamb could score....im just going by his reaction to the play, he knew exactly what had happened by the way he reacted when Lamb scored...

he wouldnt have had to gone lance first. He hit the bag as he was falling down, all he had to do is swipe. The stros got LUCKY tonight.

what is really weird, would he had gotten a double play by hitting Lance's foot and the bag at the same time?
