College Freshman

I was wondering how many hours most of you think a beginning college freshman should take.

I went to school in the 70's, pledged a fraternity, got drunk every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and a few afternoons.

I took 18 hours with all 8am classes(I knew no better) and still made a 3.0.

Of course this was at Sam Houston .

Normally, I would say 15 would be about right, but it depends on what college they're attending and what the major is.

Most of my friends that I went to school with took 15-18, I had 15 hours.

I have a son that is a Freshman - he's taking 17. My older son took 18, should've taken about 8 (if you know what I mean.) Once he had to work for 40 hours a week full time, he went back and found 18 hours to be quite easy.

I took 15 while playing football. It was tough but not enough to fail me or anything. So I would say 15 if they are invovled in athletics or a job and 18+ if they are just doing school.

I took at least 16 every semester except my last one, when I only had to take 9.:cool:

im only taking 12 but i have two science classes: microbiology and chemistry which both have labs

my freshman year i took 16 hours and was involved with student life (held offices in 2 different organizations) wasnt too bad

16 throughout ur freshman year and a semester or 2 of sophomore year is the norm at baylor....clears up ur junior and senior year for less hours unless if u have some issues passing...

I would say 12-15 hrs their first semester...and then if they feel comfortable with the college life then going 15-18 every semester after that is ok if they want to finish in 4 years.
