The Sweetwater Mustangs will wrap up its preseason workouts with a scrimmage against Vernon Friday night.

The freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams will all travel to Vernon for the scrimmage. The freshmen and junior varsity scrimmages are scheduled for a 5 p.m. start while the varsity will begin at 6 p.m.

During the scrimmage, the junior varsity and freshmen units will get 10 plays during the scrimmage, with all of the scrimmage being controlled.

The varsity scrimmage will feature four sets of 10 plays for each unit as well as a live quarter at the end of the scrimmage.

Head coach Kent Jackson and his staff are using this week's scrimmage as a time to find who will be best suit the units. Last week, the Mustangs traveled to Midland to face Midland Christian in a controlled scrimmage.

“We got some good work done,” Jackson said. “We have some kids in some new roles and wanted to find out where we are.

“We needed to find out which kids would be best for what position. There are a lot of questions still up in the air. That is what these scrimmages are for,” Jackson added.

Prior to the scrimmage, the football teams will join the volleyball, cross country and fall tennis teams for “Meet the Mustang” night at the Mustang Bowl. “Meet the Mustangs” will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday and is open to the public.

Also, season tickets for the five home games remain on sale to the public at the Administration Office.

Season tickets are $20 for the five home games, which include Wichita Falls, Brownwood (TSTC West Texas Sammy Baugh Classic), Borger (homecoming), Clyde and Breckenridge.

Anyone wishing to purchase season tickets may do so through Friday beginning at 8 a.m.

Season football tickets will only be sold in Sections D, E and F.

Those who have already purchased season tickets in Section C will be able to keep their seats.

General admission tickets will only be sold in Section C for Friday night games.
