Finally, a poll the Slpybear can definitively weigh in on!

The bear has slung an axe for over 20 years now... (dang, I just felt REAL OLD :( )

I have read many good personal faves on here from some of the posters. Some of them I will mention include...

Cliffs of Dover / E. Johnson
November Rain / Slash (GnR)
Surfin with the Alien/J. Satriani
Still got the Blues/G. Moore

A couple of others not listed yet that I feel obligated to mention as personal faves...

Little Wing (the entire song)/SRV from the Sky is Crying
He Man Woman Hater/N. Bettencourt (Extreme)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps/G. Harrison
Was I Right or Wrong/Rossington, Collins (Skynyrd)
Cemetary Gates/Dimebag (Pantera)

But, without a doubt... the all time best guitar solo(s) ever come from Comfortably Numb, by good ole Dave Gilmour, care of Pink Floyd. I know some of you are saying BS, as the previous post shows this listed as no. 1 on a top 100 page. But if I had a time machine, I would take you back to a freshly graduated slpybear with a couple of buddies, rented PA, hot summer night, and an open pavillion at the park... just cranking out Pink Floyd covers (among others) and having the time of his life!!!!

It was my favorite then and now... one of the best "feeling" solos you will play... both the first solo and the second. A great despair in my life is that my friend and I recorded a cover of it at his brothers's studio... and I lost the copy. :(

It isn't the fastest solo... isn't the most complicated... isn't the loudest... isn't the darkest or brightest. Its just the best.

That is slpybear's .02... (Although the artist in him feels it is worth at least .04! :D)

I like the opening to Freebird. Anything by SRV, Jeff Beck, Clapton, Hendrix, Peter Frampton, Jimmy Paige, and I'm also kind of partial to Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

I agree that CN has the best "feeling" out of all the ones listed. It just speaks to you in a way that guitar solos can almost never ever do. It tends to produce emotions that convey a deeper meaning to the whole work. I'm not sure if I have ever heard anything that has provoked the ability to feel quite like CN.:)

I can't believe I am the only person in four pages of this thread that mentioned anyone other than rock and roll guitar leads. I guess you really have to be a real guitar player to appreciate a Dan Huff or a Brent Mason.

Well at least nobody picked an Esteban solo.
