Coyotes score six times in first scrimmage

Isaiah Anderson scored on a 40-yard pass with a nifty tightrope on the sideline to highlight the first scrimmage of the season for Wichita Falls High School on Saturday against Midlothian in Denton.
New Coyotes coach Travis Pride also said his "defense got better as the day went. By the end they were three-and-out, three-and out. Our kids got stronger and it was a hot day with adverse conditions."
The Coyotes are adjusting quickly to their new offense. Pride said they scored six times in 50 scrimmage plays, while giving up two touchdowns on defense.
"We threw and caught pretty well, but we missed a couple of TD opportunities with slight overthrows," Pride said. "The kids competed and went hard. Midlothian was a solid team."
The final scrimmage for the Coyotes will be Saturday at Brownwood (5 p.m. junior varsity, 7 p.m. varsity). WFHS opens the season on Sept. 1 at Sweetwater.

Sounds like Old High may have a couple of those "you can't overthrow me" receivers. Might be a pretty good opener test for those Mustangs.

I'd say that game is a toss-up
Sweetwater likes to talk about speed. And they have some but they won't be winning any foot races with WFHS. They got what you call "real speed"...
Should be a good game. Wish we were still playing Old High.

Odis, the Sweetwater guys have been quiet this week, but I think that is fixin' to change. :D

LOL sweetwater doesnt have any speed please rethink what you just said buddy!
Look here, Bud, I saw both these teams last year. They both have speed, but WF had MORE. The way to beat WF is punishing them with a big OL and running more power oriented stuff.
Trust me on this one, fella, WF High has more speed than Sweetwater.

I'd say from what I saw of Wichita Falls High last year they were speedy...of course when they ran into some real speed....ie Everman it was ugly....
Sweetwater has some speed but the difference is that 1-11 their speed isn't as good as Wichita Falls will be....yeah the Mustangs have the two burners but across the board I'd take Old High..

Old High is speedy and so are the Mustangs.
