Not to break RM's heart...but I wasn't really going to write much for 8g's other than to give a plug for Pat Green's latest CD "Cannonball" which was released today. I have really enjoyed it so far. It really has the feel and sound of The Boss (Springsteen for the younger ones) with a little bit of Bob Seger mixed in.

Here's to the Pat Green Band...best wishes in the future and keep taking Texas to the Masses!!!

8k of posts and you want to celebrate by promoting a record? Adidas, do realize that 8,000 posts is almost as large as Abilene Wylie's enrollment? Egad man---think of all the posters you have "crossed swords" with in that time. At least give us some fond memories.

BTW---Congrats on the 8k---You do a lot of work for the enjoyment of all. Thanks.

I'll save the fond memories for 10,000. All these other numbers just roll by once a month...so it's hard to come up with enough BS for all of them. The release of the album today is the highlight of my day (as well as Adidas4I0s')...so you get to hear about it!

I agree that George's Bar is a great song. I don't know what it is about Dancehall Dreamer but I have NEVER been a big fan of that song in the 6+ years I've been a PG follower.

To say that his older stuff is better is a rather vague statement. You can't really compare the old and new music. One, Pat is 10 years older than when he wrote songs like Here We Go, SB35, Dhall Dreamer, etc. and A LOT has changed in his life. He was barely out of college when he wrote those songs. Now he is in his mid-30's, married, and has 2 young kids. Obviously, you would think that one's perspective on life would have changed in the past 10 years. This is never more evident than in his lyrics, particularly in his "slower songs." Where as older songs such as "Crazy" and "Three Days" were written about his wife to-be...new songs like "Temporary Angel" and "Dixie Lullaby" are written from an entirely different perspective as, obviously, he is now married and has children.

Don't take this as me saying that you can't have a preference on what you do/don't like. Of course people have different tastes in life. Rather I'm saying that to try and compare his older writings to his newer ones is hard to due because of the many factors that have changed in his life.

All that being said...he still puts on a better live show than anybody else that I have ever seen. For the fans of the older Pat, check out this video that I took last Saturday night @ the concert @ Winstar Casino. For his encore, he came out and played Songs About Texas and...WOW!!!

give it a listen and you will too. I've read 10 different reviews today from Dallas to the USA Today so some London paper and everybody has made the same reference.
