If the 5A is 245 teams-those above 1875, you have five classifications(4A,3A,2A,1A-I and 1A-II) left to fill. There is 977 teams in those five classifications. 977 divided by five leaves 195 team per Classification. Therefore 4A would have 195 teams, 32 districts 6.1 teams per district....3A would have 195 teams, 32 Districts, 6.1 teams per District....2A would have 195 teams per District, 32 Districts, 6.1 teams per District. 1A-I would have 195 teams, 32 Districts, 6.1 teams per District. 1A II would have 195 teams, 32 Districts, 6.1 teams per District.

Sure seems like it would be hard to beat the other 6 full-sized teams in your district if you were the poor little .1 team that got stuck in it. :D

Sorry OC. UIL seems to be more interested in ratios than simple numbers that make sense. wink

The .1 per District would mean 3 of the 32 Districts would have 7 teams....That could be rotated....Oh well, why use logic when you can play politics..

Bet they will keep the 2 champion concept; it makes more play-off gate money that way. Sorry, just the cynical ole fart in me............sometimes I think the UIL is more interested in "their own welfare" rather than what's best for the kids! They are a typical government agency that has to grow and enlarge to satisfy it's needs (I know, for I worked for a state agency for 35 years and saw it first hand)! You never see agencies downsize unless it is legislatively mandated. If I'm in error, I'll be glad to "eat crow".
