I just looked on KTJ's sig and I saw a stadium addition underneath the new SUPER widescreen tv. Where are the Longhorns going to run out now? I thought they were adding on to the north side of the stadium:thinking:

If you look closely there is a tunnel leading through the center of those stands. Those stands are just there to increase the stadium capacity. They are going to start construction on the North side of the stadium after the A&M game.

It seats about 85,000 now...is 90,000 next year when complete? I would hope they would ad more than 5,000:thinking:

The plan is this--

Those bleacher seats in the South Endzone will seat 4,000 people. So DKR will probably seat a total of 85,000 this year--technically.

Immediately after the A&M game--like the next day or two...or so they say--construction on the North Endzone will begin. While that is going on, the bleacher seats in the South Endzone will increase to 7,000. The season ticket holders from the North Endzone are being moved into the bleacher seats during construction.

Now, the plan is to take down the bleacher seats once construction is done for the 2008 season. Once the North Endzone is complete, DKR will seat about 90,000-91,000.

Most people are hoping they leave the "temporary bleachers" in place for forever. I don't see why they shouldn't. Keeping those things in place means an extra 7,000 fans and those 7,000 bring extra $$$$$$$$$$ to the department. (but it's not like we need the extra cash. :p ) If something clicks in DeLoss's mind and he decides to keep those extra bleacher seats, the grand total seating capacity for DKR in 2008 would be about 97,000-98,000.

I was just thinking those bleachers looked kinda cheesy. But ya...that would be cool to have the extra seating

the south endzone is where the Field house is and you can see the action from the offices and players lounge. The lounge is used for recruits and their families to watch games. There was even a former player whose mom watched the games from there.

*Great Idea*

You could build that side of the endzone with the two levels of the stadium having a view space for that lounge. and Put the stands elevated above that.

DKR will eventually be closed in. But don't expect that for another 10-12 years.

However, if we keep winning a NC every 2-3 years, it may get closed in faster than we think.
