View Full Version : 1st Day Of School Begins For Most Schools

Well can't believe it's already the first day of school for most campuses around the state tomorrow. As for me I'm excited because it's my first day of my new job. I was called on Friday to start working in the cafeteria. :) It's gonna feel good to walk through the doors of Sinton High School and remembering my teen years in the halls:D And just to think 20 years ago I began my Sophomore year

I heard 20 years ago you could smoke on campus.

Yeah, we actually had a smoking area, just outside the cafeteria. When I look back on it now, it's really kind of hard to believe.
While I'm certainly not going to defend smoking at all, and certainly not at school. In some ways, I do think we had a lot more individual rights in those days, which allowed for a little more individuality. It seems most schools have become more like prisons in some ways these days. I guess it’s just a sign of the times, for better or worse.

What happened to the law that was passed that school couldn't start till September 1st?

that doesn't take effect till next year phil

although they pass a bill they passed it too late in the spring semester, because most districts including sinton had already set their calendar

we started today but until august 28 i dont have to be at school until 10:10 am. which im quite excited about. but anywho, have a great school//work year everybody!!! :D
