That is pretty impressive.

However, if we just compare the same past 25 years that W-OS has had a team, and take away the dinosaur ball.

W-OS 204-56-3 .784 / 13 Playoff games
PP 266-48-10 .847 / 74 Playoff games

Both are pretty impressive huh?

10 years ago? Who's looking at wins from 10 years ago? I thought this thread was about tradition.
Well if we want to be more timely:
Then let's just look at the last 10 years, where our winning percentage is .779.
Over the past four years, it's .783... so it would appear that we're getting better, huh? wink
And don't say that's b/c of a weak schedule, b/c that includes three wins over Bay City (who was a state champ and a state finalist in those seasons), plus wins over LaMarque, Calallen, Friendswood, Nederland, Port Neches-Groves (during a state finalist year),Jasper (twice), and a number of other tough teams.
My whole point was that if we have the #1 winning percentage in 4A, then yahoo must have serious search engine problems wink

JasperDog94

I don't think that WOS beat Jasper twice in the past 4 years. We didn't play in 2003 or 2002. In 2001 Jasper won 24-26. In 2000, WOS won 20-9. You guys definitely have the edge overall, but it's dead even the past 4 years.

Keith: Well, we'll see when we meet head-to-head. It's hard to compare 4A to 3A if neither team has any experience in the other class.

As to the Jasper comment, WO-S beat Jasper twice in 2000: 20-9 in the pre-district and 23-0 in the playoffs.

We've actually played 41 playoff games over that span... and those years include our "dinosaur ball."

We've actually played 41 playoff games over that span... and those years include our "dinosaur ball."That is your stats for 25 years. 250 games would have to be regular season games. Since you played 263 games in 25 years you played 13 playoff games.

Your team does not have any Dinoasaur Ball Years because you didn't start playing until 1978. I can show you football player pictures in leather helmets from Pilot Point...THAT is dinosaur ball. :D

That's funny... I can name 41... It's tough to make it to four state championship games in 13 playoff games, and that's not considering the other 11 years that we didn't go all the way. Playing only 13 games in 15 playoff appearances is a toughy...

JasperDog94

Playing only 13 games in 15 playoff appearances is a toughy...Well the only conclusions that I can draw is that you have only played for 24 years instead of 25. I was using the record that was posted by a W-OS fan. There is nothing fuzzy about the math.

OK, I went and did my own research and found the discrepancy.

W-OS actual record since 1977 which is 26 years.

231-66-3 Winning Percentage .777 / Playoff Games 40 by my math.

.777 in 26 years is STILL VERY IMPRESSIVE

PPHSfan
02-19-2004, 11:23 PM
And now I even found the missing one. You only played 9 games in 1977 therefore you have played 41 playoff games in 26 years. :D

The beans have now been counted. :p

WOS92
02-19-2004, 11:25 PM
I figured it out too... Collier-Sharp hasn't updated that since 99... It should hold up as far as rankings go, considering the schools closest to us...

I'm still counting 41 playoff games... unless I'm miscounting... oh well...

The actual record is 239-68-3 for a winning percentage of .779, the 2003 season has not been updated yet into the record, I am having trouble with the page.

(Tongue in cheek) NAW! THAT DON'T IMPRESS ME AT ALL!!!

(Now seriously) Of course, PPHS fan that is impressive, but not surprising. As the WOS fans have stated ad nauseum, there are a whole load of 3A programs that have impressive teams and impressive traditions here.

WO-S has simply added another program to the 3A list.
