Intense Football League auctions off all-star spot
A winning eBay bid could get you a spot on the field

How close are you from being a professional football all-star? Not as far as you may think.
For just $250, you can post the first bid on eBay to play in the Intense Football League all-star game in Lake Charles. La. on Saturday, Aug. 19. The Louisiana Swashbucklers will be playing a team of all-stars and the 25th roster spot on each team is available on eBay (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZfranchisesportsmgmtQQhtZ-1).
"The credit for the idea has to go to (Louisiana) owner Thom Hager," Intense Football League president and Corpus Christi Hammerheads owner Chad Dittman said. "He told (the other league owners) about the idea and we were behind it."
According to the web site, "the winner of this auction will be treated as a player for the entire weekend. They will receive a hotel room for the weekend, their own authentic personalized jersey, and player access throughout the All-Star Event."
"The person who wins will get to play in the game," Dittman said. "It should be interesting. We’ll just have to see how many people go to the site."
As of 2 p.m. on Thursday, nearly 150 people had looked at the web page.
Bidding for the spot will continue until 2 p.m. central on Thursday, Aug. 10. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Southwest Louisiana Harvest Foundation, which feeds families in need in Southwest Louisiana. The winner will be announced at the Intense Bowl on Saturday, Aug. 12.
