Texas A&M's Jordan Chambless, who has played both football and baseball the past two years at Texas A&M, will concentrate solely on baseball, Aggie head football coach Dennis Franchione said Wednesday.

Chambless, who was on full scholarship in football, played defensive back and returned punts for the Aggies last season as a redshirt freshman. Chambless' collegiate football career ended with a knee injury last season against Oklahoma State.

He had nine tackles and returned eight punts for 89 yards, 55 of them coming on a return against Colorado. He played in six games with no starts.

Chambless has pitched for the Aggie baseball program for two years. He was 1-5 last season with a 4.39 ERA. The reliever had three saves in 26 2/3 innings. As a freshman he appeared in 22 games with a 1-2 record and 2.25 ERA with two saves.

He was eligible for the major league baseball draft this summer and was taken in the 43rd round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
