View Full Version : Dark 40th Anniversary at UT Tomorrow....

It is hard to believe that 40 years ago, on Aug. 1, 1966, a lone gunman named Charles Whitman killed 15 people and wounded 31 from atop the UT Tower. It was a sad day for Texans and all Americans. Following is historical link to the account of the incident:

I have never really followed up on the whole story. Very interesting.. it is a shame when what appears to be a very bright person goes that direction...it is that way in more ways than we want to think....:( :(

My grandfather was painting at the Capitol that day. Had soem intersting stories that he told my mom and her siblings. Too bad he didnt get to tell them to me himself.

It was made in the early 70's, a TV movie if I'm not mistaken. Kurt Russell played Whitman. It was called Deadly Tower or something like that...
