Below is a picture of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was build in 1889 and is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. It coast $1.5 Million Dollars to build and is awesome (in today's dollars it would probably cost about $500M). When the Tour de France riders approach Paris they can see this tower. It is the tallest structure in Paris, France. Awesome indeed isn't it?

Another view of the Tower. It has survived two World Wars.

"SHOW SOME COMPASSION" people!!!
Phil is just trying to give yall a little culture here.
Like yall, I have no respect for the French people of today, but you have to admit, the tower is impressive.
Thanks for the info Phil!

Be patient 3a. Remember the Tour de France has just ended so France is in the spotlight. Enjoy the culture.

Phil, I sometimes wonder if you honestly think people care when you post this stuff or if you are just being funny or something.

Phil C, I just got back from my 4th trip to France. It is indeed an amazing place. The people on the last trip were very friendly...even the waiters. The Eiffel Tower is great. The long wait for tickets and elevators make it a bit frustrating but it is well worth the wait.

Took the TGV high speed train to Provence region in the south. It is amazing. It is very much like the Fredericksburg area here in Texas. No Enchanted Rock though. The lavender was awesome.

Wonderful shank! I am glad you had a great trip. Did you get to see the Joan of Arc Statue? I know you enjoyed the Eiffel Tower.

DaHop72, been there also and nothing can compare to the beauty of EVERYTHING here in America. I have had family in France since 2000 and we have gotten to visit.

Phil C, I have seen and photographed the Joan of Arc statue many times. It is at Rue Rivoli near the Regina Hotel (which was on Borne Identity). The tunnel where the TDF cyclists head back toward the Arc de Triumph comes out right in front of Joan. Been to where she was burned at the stake in Rouen.

The movie "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay" made in 1944 (Remember that the word Gay in 1944 meant happy) had the Eiffel Tower as the setting near the end of the movie. This is a great movie that is often shown on tv and is very funny and shouldn't be missed. It was very popular when released. It is based on Emily Kimbrough's book and it was inspired by the trip she took to Europe with her best friend Cornelia Otis Skinner in 1923 when they about 23. Both of these ladies became successful writers. This movie is great. It stars Gail Russell as Cornelia and Diana Lynn as Emily. These young stars were great in this movie and had some success in later years also but unfortunately they didn't take care of their health and Gail passed away at 36 and Diana at 45. The two writers ironically outlived both of them with Emily passing away at 98 years and Cornelia at 80. It is a great movie with the Eiffel Tower scene magnificient. I don't know if it was the real Tower since it was made in 1944 during WW2 but it is great whether or not the real Tower was used or not. Hopefully it will be shown again on tv soon.

I'm not a big fan of France, but mainly because I lost my passport there, and also nearly got mugged. But the Tower at night is pretty impressive.

These are picture I personally took in January of '05...
