This is a poor venue for a football game. First it costs 10 bucks in quarters for the tollway round trip during Houston Friday rush hour traffic. They charge you to park in a huge lot. They do not allow noisemakers (a rarely enforced UIL rule that should be recinded at least for play-offs), the announcer was some "Homer" who shamelessly editorialized for the Bobcats and downplayed the Leps, the field surface is Astro Turf but it was layed down over a crowned grass field, so it is not flat like it should be but had an exagerated crown, the surface underneath felt like concrete, the rug had wrinkles in spots (dangerous for turned ankles) and they would not allow the visiting team fans and family on the field after the game but did allow OF parents and fans on the field after the game, and they turned the lights off the Leopard side of the stadium after the game but left them on the OF side so the OF fans could mingle on the field with their players. Oh well, we came out of there with the win but I hope we never go back to that stadium. BTW, when did it become standard practice to have a "Homer" announcer in a play-off game? It was ludicrous how biased this guy was! He even warned our fans late in the third quarter during a crucial OF drive against using noisemakers (even clappers!) at risk of being escorted out by police! Since he left the PA system off during the entire pre-game announcements on the visitor side, the first warning about noisemakers wasn't heard. So when the Leps had OF 4th and long he makes this announcement. Well our fans and team took offense and from that point on they got really fired up and won the game in the final seconds on brilliant play from both the defense and offense. Not a smart move to tell the Leps they can't make a racket in support of their boys!

Oh, and one other thing. A $3 million dollar stadium and no 25 second clock? What's up with that? Most 2A stadiums put those in. This stadium just reeked as a commercial rip-off, not at all a fan friendly environment.

Why, tell me why would Pasadena ISD officials show little ole OF special treatment? Again you have problems, son. Also you play your entire season on crowned fields, I would assume unless you don't have rain out there. If the turf was laid down on a grass surface as you say then how could it feel like concrete underneath. And if the first announcement about the noise makers was made with the speakers off on the visitors side how did you know there was a first announcement. Do your parents know you spend so much time on the computer. Surley you can't be over what 13.

Pud, your right about the field....it was the pits!!! Thankfully an ex-La Grange cop, who is now working for Pasadena PD, was on our side and didn't haul us off. I don't know if you saw it, but the refs were hugging the OF coaches as if they were all kin or something....maybe in the same club? I bet the Refs road back to OF on the players bus. But we didn't let the refs or OF beat us. I will say this though, OF was the better team last night... we just came out on top... we were not on the game that we can play.... come on Newton or Marlin.

Pud, my friend, if you guys must play in the Houston Metro area again someday, I suggest you check out Pridgeon Stadium in Cy-Fair ISD, Magnolia Stadium, and Tomball Stadium. All three are on the Northwest corner of Houston Metro, and are excellent facilities. Magnolia is hard to get to, but worth the effort.

The only non-crowned, astroturf field I have ever seen in Texas is in the Astrodome. Flat there only because they played baseball on it at times. The rug at Pasadena is a bit dated and I am sure ready for replacement. The lights on the home side are always left on after the game with the visitors side being turned off for economic reasons. Don't tell me it was completely dark on the visitors side! And don't get bent out of shape because someone enforces an existing (and well-known) UIL rule. Good luck to the Leopards the rest of the way. wink

Part of being a champion is to never give up and the Leps did not give up. Also, a better team would have put the dagger into the opponent on 1st and goal from the 9. Instead they feel apart. Just because the Leps had to struggle against a very good, well coached, and fired up team to win doesn't take away the fact that they beat Orangefield. The stats will show La Grange beat OF, as well as the score. Sure the Leps had to scratch there way back from adversity, but they showed tremendous heart too (they lost #70 RT for most of the second quarter to a sprained ankle, which got taped up and he played injured the rest of the game, making a pancake block for the tying score in the first of the 4th. Schramm had muscle cramps three times in the 4th after playing both ways and giving Modica fits on the pass rush. Anderle broke for an 85 yard runble to set up the winning FG, Gunn made a pro style pick to stop the OF express on the 5. A freshman kicker made the FG.) Please don't make statements that show no appreciation for what the Leps did last night. Sure they are capable of playing better games, but in the play-offs, against highly motivated and capable opposition, sometimes you don't always perform to expectations. The important thing is the Leps stayed in the game and did not give up. Go Leps!!! :)

As for the lights, both teams pay the fee for the stadium and should have lights on after the game. Also, the Stadium authorities only let OF fans on the field after the game and had police line up on the visitor side saying no one was allowed on the field! . That, plus the homer announcer, plus the lights, plus the parking fees and no 25 second clock just add up to a zero for Pasadena Memorial. Cy-Fair would have been much better.

Hey Pud...remember the "normal" posters from OF...they had a good head on their shoulders and WERE NOT like this jkll poster...

"ignorant" (WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY: lacking knowledge, education or experience; caused by or showing lack of knowledge, education, etc.; uninformed or unaware)

the best thing we can do is to ignore posters like this and not let them pull us to their level...I am ready for the Marlin/Newton game...GO LEPS

My name is Charley and I have a confession. I played 5A football too. Please don't hate me for that, as I had nothing to do with where I was raised. I moved to a 3A town as soon as I had control of my own life.

I have never been to a game in Pasadena but I did get drunk at Gilley's once. Seems like someone talked about the playing conditions there last year after a playoff game. Maybe they will get the message and do something about it. Suggest everybody stay clear of Ft Worth stadiums for playoffs also. Worst PA systems I have ever heard or better said not heard.

Can someone bring this up to Matthew, et al so all us 3A wannabes can be ROM'd?
