sorry I haven't had time to put together any writeups on the nominees...but here they are (with their odds too at the request of P4S ;) )

Hutto 13-3 ( 6 to 1)...Division 2 Finalists. If they threw the ball...it was a surprise to everybody in the stadium.

Tatum 16-0 (4 to 1)...Division 2 State Champs. Great running game that will continue to be a force in 2A in 2006.

Wimberley 15-0 (3 to 1)...Division 1 State Champs. The most dominant team in 3A this year...especially defensively.

Cuero 14-1 (2 to 1...HOMER VOTE ALERT!!! ;) )...Division 2 Semifinalists. Lost to Hutto on a last second field goal...the second year in a row where they have been knocked out on a last second FG.

I couldn't believe Wimberley had as few nominations as they did. They were without a doubt the best team in the state last year, and I'll pick a team that's as dominant as Wimberley over a Cinderella (Hutto) any day of the week. Tatum played too many close games and Cuero didn't make it to the championship game.

I'm from Cuero and voted for Wimberly... their playoff dominance was rediculous...

not an easy choice for me, being from east texas. i took wimberly. they made it look pretty easy. tatum struggled some but were still an excellent team. if anybody remembers brownsboro should have beat them in the first round, but tatum pulled it out. it is my opinion that nobody in the state was happier to see canton beat gilmer than tatum. we got there number and they know it.

Tatum did what had to be done to win, and every one in Tatum did not want Canton to win, Most everyone Wanted Gilmer. whats Gilmer fan. How many more days till Sept 8.

4A Dripping Springs was the only team all year long who played them within a touchdown, and then they turned it up a notch for the playoffs. A 62-7 win over a stout West Columbia squad? 52-29 over West Orange-Stark? There's my Huckleberry.

That score against WOS really sticks out in my mind.

Looks like this poll is going to be a run away. Makes me wish I
could've seen Wimberly play.

I saw Wimberly play twice in '04... the first time was against Iowa Park in the Classic in Brownwood... if you would have told me they would have won State in '05 after I saw that performance I would have let you know you were on Crack...

Then I saw them play against Cuero in the playoffs and they were a totally different team... that's when I knew they could be a good team in '05 and have a chance and makin' the big game...

Not the fastest team on the field, and though they had a few big guys, they weren't the biggest team on the field...

But there was something just REALLLLLY special about this team, I saw it last year in the playoffs and they showed it this year...

I voted for Hutto because they came from no where and made it to the big game. Lost to Liberty Hill earlier in the season and beat Cuero a team who beat Liberty Hill.

Id take Cuero off since they did not go as far as the other 3. Hutto deserves to be on there. With the teams we played and beat we were one of the top 5 teams in the state last year. Next year should be another great year in a very tough district

The Wimberley score vs. WO-S stands out in more ways than one. It is the only time in WO-S's proud history they've given up more than 50 points. I've seen most of WO-S's playoff games over the years, even while we were a 5A and 4A squad, and no one ever whipped us like that in the playoffs...not even LaMarque. That's how good Wimberley was.

I saw Wimberley play and they deserve the nod.
I though WC would play much closer than they did but jeez you can't slow a steamroller if it decides it's not gonna be stopped.
How Bandera played them earlier on is another reason why they are my darkhorse pick for region four.

How is Cuero ahead of Tatum when Tatum won state and Cuero lost in the semis and how are they ahead of Hutto if my memory serves me correctly didnt Hutto send Cuero to the gymnasium for hoops season. Homerization at its best id say

I have to agree with Griff. Wimberley definitely made a believer out of me. I thought we were destined for the title game last year. Like someone said earlier, there was something special about that team. They beat a very good WO-S team. I was extremely impresssed, they just flat out whipped us.

Monahans has to be in the top 5. Single biggest turnaround in 3A football last year. Went from 4-6 the year before to 13-1.
