Does some one who parks in a handicap parking spot even
though they're not HC make you madder than hell? What I mean
is you constantly see people driving their parents or grandparents
vehicles with the HC sign hanging in the rear-view mirror. They
pull up in these HC parking spots and jump out and walk into the
store or whatever public place with absolutely no visible
disabilities.

That annoys me, yes, but I'm more annoyed by people who believe there are no speed limits in parking lots.

1. If they are not using their own handicap permit, yes it does make me sick

2. Sometimes disabilities aren't visible. My grandfather had a permit issued to him due to a heart condition.

Yes, that is extremely unethical.

My wife is a physical therapist and we both believe there are way too many of these hc parking passes handed out to people. Some folks that are issued these passes have conditions that a little extra walking would actually help their condition. For example, obesity (which is very subjective) should not be condition for hc parking unless it's an extreme case.

if you see them walking from the handicapped spot, and they're not handicapped - hit them with your car and give them a reason to park up close

Not quite, as I stated heart conditions are a handicap as well because an overworked heart in those people can be deadly.

I understand that completely. You don't typically question a
"grandpa" parking in a HC spot. I was refering to the 20-40
year old range.

i would hope not because some handicap stalls also hold the baby changing table.

Good point. It would seem that if the rest of the stalls were full
and there was no one in there that needed it then it would be
OK. But, you can't use that reasoning for a parking spot because
just since it's not occupied doesn't mean someone won't drive up
a second later...

I totally agree with YaYa.
Too many selfish people and the rest of us get screwed.
Whatever happened to teaching and believing in the Golden Rule?

My wife and I started parking out in the "empty spaces" a while ago. We found it just easier to park away from all the "battles" for the close ones and just walk. We enjoy getting a few extra steps in.

And yes. It absolutely drives me nuts to see a young person bounce out of a car with a HC hanger on it and run in somewhere. Even if you can get away with it... don't. Save it for the person that needs it.

PS - No law against the HC stall in the bathroom. Legally, it is just another stall... same as the lower sinks, etc.

I despise people who illegally park in handicap spots. It makes me very angry when an elder or handicap person calls to report someone has parked in a spot that is clearly marked. Some people are just so ignorant of others.
