The Lowie for the man (or woman) who brings the most insight to the board. Yes, there is an extra candidate out of these finalists and no, he didn't get any nominations. He's my write-in candidate, and if he doesn't deserve to be in here then I don't either.

Other nominees included adidas, Chris Hart and Ranger Mom.

GWOOD- Is there anyone in the state that knows more than this guy about Texas HS baseball? He's without a doubt one of the few guys (and I'm saying there may be five in existance) who could be considered a 'guru' when it comes to Texas HS baseball. I'm sure he knows quite a bit about other sports as well, I just haven't got the chance to read all his posts.

WOS1- Now I'm not sure whether or not this is true, but I have a theory that this guy is Joe Lee Smith, the single most recognized historian of Texas HS Football. Smith hails from Beaumont. Both West Orange and Stark are within the Beaumont metroplex. Who knows? What I do know is that this guy seems to have more stats and more historical information on more teams than anyone I've ever come across, with the exception of maybe Smith. His 7 on 7 previews have kept us all in the loop, his research has been used by at least three different websites that I know of, and when you look up a team's record over the past 20, 30, or even 40 years, chances are that this guy was the one who made that info available.

Phil C- How would we know about who won the state volleyball championship, the UT swim team's awesome recruiting class, or when Dawn at Socorro is airing? For that matter, how else would we know about some of the classic SWC games, Freer football and track, and some of the college players of yesteryear? Old man BPhill, that's how. There's only one word that comes to mind when I think of this man- Godfather.

BDR (me)- Not much to say. I'm a jack of all trades, master of none. Just a history nerd who grew up collecting all kinds of memorabilia and learned a lot from that. When I got into the media, I had just about every piece of obscure information that a HS sports history buff could want, and I stored all those records (mostly of Coastal Bend teams) away on a 250 MB zip drive.

IMHO this Award should go to all of the above. I know that isn't possible so I decided to vote for GWOOD. It was very much a toss up. I chose him simply because I personally have had more interaction with him and his baseball knowledge than I have had with any of the other nominees. I would be proud to call any of these guys the Most Informative Poster. Thanks guys, for all that you do and all that you give. It truly is appreciated.

BDR. No matter what it is, he always has some kind of stats for it. I try to emulate him, but always fail.:(

I voted for him just because of that. That is something everyone can use, philc's information nobody cares about.

and this IS a football website.

Sorry about that. I thought it was WOS1... got confused. I know WOS1 did the stuff about 7 on 7 and just figured he was the stat guy too. That's my bad.

If he wins the award which was originally meant for you, we'll just put your name on the trophy, deal?

I voted PhilC, not because I am homer, but because the guy puts up so many informative threads. Now, I will admit that I don't read half of them and I could care less about soccer, water polo, or whatever sport he is eyeing that day, but you have to admit that he spits them out like crazy.

GWOOD ruled at baseball. WOS87 had all the football stats. PhilC could tell you anything & everything about women's sports and give you stories on games passed.

BUT....

BDR is the KING of putting it all together!!!

I voted for BDR, he is knowledgable in many areas - the only thing he has going against him is that he is an aggie :D

I refused to vote for PhilC, anybody could copy/paste the things he 'knows', and he posts information on things that nobody cares about, except his following from sinton, who will give him all their homer votes

GWOOD is more of a baseball guy, so that's why I didnt vote for him

I didnt vote for WOS1 because I dont like WOS - sorry

here's a thought. maybe the people who vote for people from sinton, actually want to vote for those and it doesnt have anything to do with where they are from.
