Katy Taylor just might be the defeat of the mighty Mustangs

Could be it's 19-12 at half. That's ok we've done well against 5A teams today. Beat 3 of them.

Are there any 3A teams other than WOS still competing?

No. WOS has been the only 3A team left for a while.

I'm gonna run up there in a couple of minutes and try to catch the last couple of games. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I knew Graham and Canton were knocked out a little earlier today, but hadn't heard anything about Wharton or Bandera.

Believe those were eliminated late yesterday and early today.

I changed my earlier post -- I had forgot Canton lost to Katy Taylor. Wharton was on the other side of the consolation bracket, so I hadn't heard anything about them, and Bandera had made the championship bracket, but I don't know how they've fared.

Am I the only one that's ever wondered why they called it "consolation"? "We feel bad that you didn't get to play for 1st or 2nd place, so we'll console you."

It's kinda like handing out ribbons in elementary school isn't it.
You know ribbons for 1st to 10th place.

Or maybe every tee-ball game ending in a tie. ;)

Seriously though.....I wondered about consolation back when I was in school. Heck, why not just say "3rd place trophy". "Consolation" almost sounds like someone was :weeping: :weeping: .

Maybe it's just me, but I always thought it had more to do with allowing teams to continue playing rather than awarding them for failure. I doubt many people would consider winning the consolation bracket equivalent to tying the winner of the championship bracket.

Either way, I'm proud of WOS and their 7-on-7 team. :)

I had to take off before the Championship Game, but I was pretty impressed by Taylor, especially that QB of theirs. Nothing too flashy.... didn't go downfield but maybe once in a drive, but he managed the game as well as anyone. It sounds pretty cliche', but he took what the defense gave him. Looked downfield first to see if any receivers were opening up, and if nothing looked good he'd go short. Always had at least one receiver crossing five to seven yards downfield and he'd just toss it in there.

Old High's biggest problem was that their QB tried to force too much. He had an arm on him, but went for the homerun every at bat. If that wasn't there, he wasn't patient enough to look for the open man short. Several bad decisions cost them the game. Good team, though. Lots of talent.
