I actually enjoyed playing Sweetwater. In 2000, Carillo got knocked out in the 1st quarter, and it came down to the final play. Even when we got our butts handed to us (2001), they were good sports about everything. A Class organization in my opinion.


The constant rivalry stuff with Snyder does get a little old though.

I remember that game...a friend of mine on that Breck team claimed he is the one that plowed Carrillo. Shane Mercer came in and led a pretty good comeback.

The whole play was crazy. Our starting CB either returned a punt or an INT and got dragged down near the endzone and broke his collar bone. I was on the field yelling for our trainer, who was nowhere to be found because Carillo was on the other end knocked out.

A fun game to look back on: Deep balls, onside kicks, lead changes, a comeback, and a sack to end the game.

I believe it was 38-26. Adams ran back a kickoff to start the game, then Sweetwater rattled off 31 unanswered by half. I remember our coach showing a board that said 31+31=62 and asking if we're ready to see that on a scoreboard with the way we were playing. Needless to say, we tightened up a bit. But it was a game full of mistakes, and yall had control of the ball at the end, basically running the clock and getting a first down on command. The score only showed 12 points, but we felt outplayed at the end.
