Gov. Rick Perry today ceremonially signed House Bill 153, which authorizes nearly $1.9 billion in tuition revenue bonds for construction projects on 48 college and university campuses across the state. The funds will help ensure Texas institutions have adequate space for classrooms, libraries, faculty offices, and updated science and computer labs to meet the needs of growing student populations.

Perry thanked Senator Todd Staples and Representative Roy Blake, who attended the bill signing, for their work on the legislation.

House Bill 153 brings the following major funding to Universities Across the State

* Stephen F. Austin University - $30 million
* Lamar Facilities - $8.2 million
* UTSA, UT Health Sciences Center and New Texas A&M Campus in San Antonio - $174 million
* Texas A& M International, Laredo - $37.5 million

Aggie John is right. Perry hasn't done jack for educators until it comes election time. Every person I have met in the education business wants Perry to hit the road. Word on the street.
