I can't decide how to turn my frustrations with the lack of class displayed by the French national team yesterday into a poll...so I've got this question instead.

If you were the GM of the Rangers/Astros, would you trade Francisco Cordero for Brad Lidge?

The poll is going to have 6 options and you can only pick one. You will vote yes/no for whichever team you prefer to vote for (as I realize some of us aren't fans of either team). Here are the stat lines on these guys going back to 2004.

Cordero (2006)...6-4, 4.43 ERA, 6 saves (14 opps), 45 K's, 12 BB's, 42.2 Innings Pitched
(2005)...3-1, 3.39 ERA, 37 saves (45 opps), 79 K's, 30 BB's, 69 Innings Pitched
(2004)...3-4, 2.13 ERA, 49 saves (54 opps), 79 K's, 32 BB's, 71.2 Innings Pitched

Lidge (2006)...0-3, 5.79 ERA, 21 saves (26 opps), 58 K's, 23 BB's, 42 Innings Pitched
(2005)...4-4, 2.29 ERA, 42 saves (46 opps), 103 K's, 23 BB's, 70.2 Innings Pitched
(2004)...6-5, 1.90 ERA, 29 saves (35 opps), 157 K's, 30 BB's, 94.2 Innings Pitched***He spent more half the season in a setup role while Octavio Dotel was still the closing pitcher.

I wouldn't let Lidge close for my little league team. Detroit has
three closers on there roster. Todd Jones, Fernando Rodney, and
Zumaya. All have pitched better than Lidge. Maybe Houston
would give up a bat or some prospects for one of them ?

I'd make that trade straight up if I was the Texas GM. Lidge is younger than Cordero and should have a few more miles in his arm.

A change of atmosphere might do them both good.

As the Houston GM, NO I wouldn't trade Lidge for Cordero regardless of the offer

It's a tough call right now. Lidge has the better stuff, but right now Cordero has the better makeup. Seems like Lidge's psyche has been completely shattered ever since Pujols touched him in the playoffs last year.

If Lidge can get that edge back, he has the stuff to be the most dominant closer in the game. But closers typically have a short shelf life. A Mariano Rivera/Trevor Hoffman/Rollie Fingers/Dan Quisenberry-type of guy who is dominant for a career is very rare. Only about two per generation are able to handle the stress night-in, night-out.

All in all, I think I'd stick with Lidge and see if he makes it back to form if I was the Astros GM.

On this part.....all I've got to say is---If it's French----you don't need it.

The word on the street doesn't know who would trade for what, but knows that the Rangers are tied for their division lead and as bad as the Astros have sucked as of late, they are only 5 games back of the Cardinals.
